Hello,

I submitted my passport to VFS Global with SMS and email tracking, and it is currently showing: Your application, tracking ID No. ####### has been received and is under process at the IRCC Office on 2022/01/16.

I have completed all of my pre arrival programs that I had signed up for: AEIP, Canada Infonet, GO, PASS, and SOPA. I've even got all my foreign credentials submitted and finished all my shopping, packing, and couriered 90% of my stuff. I am just waiting on getting my passport back so that I can buy tickets, which are almost sold out on every day for the next 17 days for direct flights.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get the passport back? And at this stage, it's a guaranteed success as long as no criminal history, right? Or are they checking for something else? The online portal has said:

Review of eligibility
  • We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Review of medical results
  • January 3, 2022 You passed the medical exam.
Review of additional documents
  • We do not need additional documents.
Interview
  • You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics
  • We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check
  • We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision
  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

So what I am asking is:

1. When do you think I will get my passport back?

2. At this stage, what are they checking for before they stamp the visa on my passport? And is there anything that can get me refused?

3. Am I going to get something in the return envelop other than a passport and a visa stamped on it?

4. Is the passport in Delhi in some building that the IRCC has rented space in, or is it sent to Canada somewhere?

Thank you for any help.

I am not sure about abbreviations. Is PPR the pre-arrival services letter, or is it the one that says Ready for Visa and tells you to submit your passport within 30 days and that this is a valid computer generated mail?

Yes, my Pre Arrival Letter, and my Medical Request, were both in GC Key. I didn't need an interview. And my PPR came like 7 days after medical was approved, on Jan 10, 2022 via email and I printed out the email (said, "PS: THIS IS A VALID COMPUTER GENERATED LETTER AND DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY SIGNATURE. )

1. Typically 2-4 weeks from submission.

2. Nothing much really - name might be run through database stuff but routine only. They will check to see all corresponds and nothign seems to have changed of significance.

3. A few explanatory pages and reminders of what's needed. Precise details may vary a bit by country. A page of some important stuff like "if your fmaily situation has changed, you MUST advise immediately and before travelling."

4. I don't know details but in some facility used/rented/owned by embassy/consulate. It can be sent anywhere in the world technically but usually closest place that can print the visa and place in passport. (Small variances if one office much more busy - not visible to user.)

1. Oh really, I did not know that it could take up to 4 weeks. Is that the max or can it take longer than 4 weeks too?

2. That is a relief that there isn't any real chance of refusal. Thank you. I hope you are not just saying that to calm my nervousness though.

3. Will they include instructions on how to get through all the Kiosks and formalities that start as soon as I step off the plane and onto my first Canadian airport? If not, do you know of a good video or a step by step guide?

4. Thank you.

Oh wow, I am glad to have helped then. You should check your email daily while this process is going on. A friend of mine once had her PR rejected and had to drive to Delhi and request the high commission to allow more time because she had stopped checking emails.

Rough estimate. Can depend some on local office (don't think a big issue with delhi). Obviously some cases might come up longer.

I don't know what they provide, not aware of other guides (but search). Short version: there are lots of people around to ask questions of. Big line first is to get to main passport control (primary inspection). When thye find out you are arriving you'll be sent to 'secondary' where all will be finalized - check docs, some signing, some questions, but almost all done by the border officer. They'll give you the signed COPR which will be your main evdence of being a PR until you get your card (which will be mailed later).

After that - pick up your bag and go thtrough customs - if you have 'goods to follow' (shipment), you MUST get this signed/stamped by customs. This whole process might take 1-2 hours. (Plus/minus)

Get a cab or whatever and you're a PR.

(there will be some covid formalities in there but I'm not up on details)

All of this: YMMV.

Oh awesome. Thank you. Also what do you mean by "goods to follow?" I couriered my stuff already. Was there some government sponsored way to send my stuff?

Is your stuff arriving before you? If so, don't know (assume you arranged some way).

If it is arriving after you, that's exactly the case of goods to follow. You should have shipping details and manifests etc. You get that stamped so they recognise as personal effects of arriving PR, no duty.
