Adding New Born

Hello everyone, I have a question to ask.
My husband is a Citizen and he has sponsored my PR.

I received my corp two weeks earlier, I notified my lawyer to inform IRCC that we had a newborn baby, We planned to help him apply for a Canadian Passport after returning to Canada, but there was no any response .

Does anyone have any experience, can we just use the Hk passport to bring my child land with me ? Is it certain that IRCC will issue a new Corp for me?

The situation will be because of his dad, baby can be Citizen, so there should be no change on my sponsor? Just need to inform them that I had a new born baby ?

Kindly assist as I am worry and feel lost....

• Your failure to inform us of any of these changes may result in the cancellation of your permanent resident visa and may render you and your accompanying family members inadmissible to Canada.
• Your failure to declare all of your family members, accompanying or not, will permanently exclude them from sponsorship under the Family Class regulations.

Sure, inform them. But since your child is a citizen the exclusion from sponsorship is meaningless. Repeat, the child cannot be added to your app because a citizen - just as someone with dependents who are citizens does not include them in their app.

The far more important step is getting the temporary passport for your child (and applying for the citizenship certificate at the same time).

To be as clear as possible: the warning from IRCC is mainly about advising them of new family members that are not (by birth) citizens. That's why I'm saying that adivsing them is rather low priority - and the warning (very important for children that are not citizens) is effectively irrelevant in your case, the child cannot be sponsored anyway. So your COPR is valid and no particular issue there, nothing should need to be changed.

BUT: the key thing that you have to address is how to get your child to Canada. To simplify, Canadian citizens mostly cannot travel on other passports. Canada won't issue a visa to citizens in other passports.

And I think you can't get the ETA (for visa waiver passport holders like HK) if the foreign passport holder is a citizen. And if you can't get the ETA, your child can't board the plane. That's why I'm saying apply for Canadian passport (temporary is issued to those who are citizens like children who dont' have the final confirmation of citizenship yet).

You can of course ask at the consulate, I'm sure this is not that rare a thing. Hopefully they can help to expedite the issuance of the travel document (eg temp Canadian passport) for your child.

[Note that I think that if a putative Canadian - eg child of a Cdn citizen - shows up at a physical border, like from the USA, CBSA will let them in - with at least the basic documentation of parentage/birth certificate, citizenship of the parent, and preferably evidence of the application for certificate of citizenship. And probably the same would be true at passport control in a Canadian airport - but that doesn't help you if you can't board the plane, and your child probably can't get the ETA.

And even if this is true, I probably woudln't want to travel through yet another country with a newborn these days.]
