Hi There,

I am a Canadian citizen preparing outland sponsorship for my spouse who lives in India.
I went to India for my marriage and stayed at my parents rental house with my wife for few months.

We changed the address on the following docs for to the rental house address with the intent of applying from India:
Wife: Government id's, passport, bank account
Me: Government id's, bank account

Due to my work circumstances, before applying, I had to return back to Canada.

Questions:
1. Currently she went back to her parent's house. Nobody lives in the rental house now. We still pay rent and have people to send us the mails received at the rental house.
Should I proceed with the rental house address as the address of my wife or should I change it to her fathers house before applying?
Problem is changing address on her Government ids and passport will takes months to complete and I am afraid of the delays caused along with the backlog of applications due to COVID.

2. In case we use the rental house as her address, will someone come to the rental house for verification after the sponsorship application is applied?

Thanks! Appreciate your help!

Use her factual address. Include a letter of explanation that govt docs show this address and she's not updated those docs to reflect factual yet.

Thanks @armoured.
You mentioned only govt docs. But what about Passport, can I proceed with a the rental address on Passport as well? and provide a explanation as well?
Please let me know. Thanks.

You're overthinking it, it seems to me. I don't really understand your question - IRCC is not asking you to prove which address you reside at above, but only to tell the truth about what the factual address is. So for the most part whatever address is on docs and rental agreements and whatever else doesn't matter.

There may be circumstances where you would need to document it (eg if applying common law), but as far as I can tell, this isn't one of them. You might wish to show the docs to show you did reside together in the past, as described and if appropriate, and you have that - but for where she is now, I can't see how it would matter.
