These youtubers are selling a fairy tale and people should be wary of believing what they see on social media or YouTube. These people are no different to Youtubers trying to show people how to be millionaire by buying crypto, stocks or selling on Amazon. They need views and they are selling a dream / fairytale. People need to be realistic when moving to a new country and mentally prepare for all the challenges. The things said on this forum by some members about life in Canada may be exaggerated at times but they do paint a pretty good picture of challenges in Canada. If anyone thinks life is going to be fairytale then you are in for a shock. Yes, if you are from IT / Tech background and you are lucky to get transferred on a good salary then yes life will be amazing from Day 1. But that is not the case for everyone.
Very true

Not entirely. I mean if you have a good profession and you can work hard then it will not stop you to buy a house in a year or two and then another on in next year. Everything is possible. As I said it before, a lot of people are dreaming to have a lots of money, but this should not eb your goal. Your goal should be to fulfill your dreams. Then you have something to aim for ;) and the most important thing is that you have to believe in yourself and your abilities.

Everything is possible- Something's are possible
a lot of people are dreaming to have a lots of money- YES
but this should not eb your goal- Of Course
Your goal should be to fulfill your dreams- Their dream is to make a lot of money so they could afford to buy a decent shelter especially couples who wish to have kids. Their Dream=Goal
Then you have something to aim- Yes They are aiming to make as much money as possible which is their goal which again is their dream
most important thing is that you have to believe in yourself and your abilities- Even if they don't believe in themselves they'll be forced to aim for more money which can be used to buy a shelter.

I did not mean this, what I meant is that you have to believe in yourself. You can learn new skills etc. etc.

Good one, I might invite you guys why not hahah we should have a bbq after all that talk on this forum hahah

You know what I mean, I do understand that everything is coming down towards money but a lot of people think that they cannot be better, that they cannot have a better profession that pays more etc. etc. I have met a lot of guys like that. A lot of people are limiting themselves.

I agree with you. People can be successful in any profession. I can tell you there are plumbers / electricians in Canada making much more money than IT folks. Plus they can write off many expenses and hence save on taxes also. They are able to write off their cars as business expense as they use it to go their client's house. There is no one formula of success.

My point was that most social media "influencers" / youtubers deliberately show rosy projections / numbers and make it sound like making money in Canada is very easy. I know of people who have gone in to depression after coming here when they realized that those fancy cars they saw on IG come with hefty EMIs etc. I'm not saying everyone is that naïve but there is a sizeable number of people who just underestimate the kind of toll it takes mentally when you move to a new country. Move over to the Settlement Issues part of this forum and I saw a post from someone who was upset on the fact that bank only gave him 1K limit on credit card and how it is not enough. There are a lot of minor things that will hit someone coming over day in and day out.

While I disagree with many of the posts which paint excessively dark picture of Canada on this forum but if I have to be honest I would say it is better to know that picture before coming here rather than thinking life is going to be fairy tale. Success in life may mean different things for different people but if someone is coming with a dream of "lots of money in short amount of time" as success metric to Canada they are more likely to be disappointed.
