I got my new PR renewal card, now the question is for the next 5 years, to meet 730 days residency - do I use the the same month and day I landed in Canada?
5 years from the time you apply for renewal again.you can only renew 6 to 9 months before the card expires.

Yeah I saw people that they had few months of short of residency and they still got their PR card. I just had 7 days short and i didnt . Its really unfair. Since I applied for pr card renewal 2 years has passed already lol i dont know if they are still thinking about my application lol.
if i can apply for citizenship with expired PR card , i wont follow PR renewal.

i keep you posted if i find new info
I can calm you down. My daughter has been waiting since August 2019. And nobody cares about it.
It seems like the only solution is to just go to the police station - and state that you won't go anywhere unless an immigration officer or the media is provided.
Funny - but this is the decision.
You were not deprived of PR status (and the validity of the permanent resident card is just a PR card)
In Canada - the left hand does not know what it is doing - the right hand.
The law says that you need the required number of days to obtain citizenship (and not a permanent resident card).
And this is noted separately.
To obtain citizenship, you do not need PRcard.

PR Card renewal:

I mailed the application on Sept 14, Canada post tracking says it reached on Sept 17. But below is my timeline. Not sure why it says they received it on 28th.

Anyways, status is "Decision Made".

1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on September 28, 2021.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on December 17, 2021.
3. We started processing your application on December 17, 2021.

still is in process.

In fact, the situation is just awful.
People still do not fully understand what is happening.
EVEN if you receive a letter of support from the Minister of Immigration - NO ONE WILL LOOK at this letter!
The case will remain so without consideration ..
This letter will be paid attention ONLY when the application is opened.
And IRCC can open an application in 5 and 10 years.

I have applied for PR Renewal and my application was received on December 14th. Do I wait 1-2 years for renewal now? And what if I have some family emergency and need to travel? What do I do then??????

Posters on this forum relate that if you have genuine emergency, you must include cover letter/evidence of urgency, and then they will process your PR renewal application relatively quickly. I don't know how fast, but some say it takes short amount of time. Others travel for emergency purposes and apply for travel document from abroad, to get back to Canada, and include the same evidence/cover letter they would for PR renewal. You may need copies of your tickets, among other things.

I really don't know much about fast processing of urgent cases, but if you post a thread about it you may get responses you seek.

It's probably faster to return via the land border than applying & getting PRTD or PR renewal application.

I saw on this forum that even with emergency letter they are taking time for PR renewal and PRTD is hell too.

So basically you are at the MERCY OF IRCC.
