Hello Everyone,

I am sorry I know this has been answered many times but it's confusing. How many drafts and what amount do we need to fill in for both passport surrender and OCI application? I assume they started accepting both applications together again.

Also which passport number should you use while filling up pickup-drop form? Indian or Canadian?

1. The Consulate General of India - Toronto - 345$ (For OCI fee)
2. BLS International Services Canada Inc. - 129.40$ (For Passport Surrender)
3. BLS International Services Canada Inc - 7.4$ (For OCI BLS processing fee)

Hey guys, I need to travel back to India in Feb and planning to stay there long for some time.
I got my Oath invite just recently.

I was wondering is this possible, if I apply & get my canadian passport, surrender my indian PP and then get entry visa.
And later apply for OCI while in canada as well. And goto India.

Can we ask the package to come to an Indian address.
And if not, what if I get it couriered to me in India.
Would there be any issues at the Indian border while leaving, that I entered India on entry visa, and come back later, lets say after an year with an OCI.

Even I want to know answer for this question. If you find out from any other means please let us know.

You only have to get the draft for $345. Other two fees can be paid by debit card.

8 weeks seem to be on the higher side. PP surrender certificate can be received in like 4-5 weeks, depending on factors such as holiday season, number of applicants etc

I received the certificate in 2 and half weeks. Applied at BLS Brampton walk in on Nov 28 and received December 16.

As far as I remember, saving the application on the desktop is not possible. But you can print your application anytime after logging in to the passport services portal. That print application option will disappear once the application is submitted either physically or through the postal service

Thanks for replying.One more question do we need all supporting docs including photo ( citizenship certificate , Indian and Canadian passport, COPR etc) to be scanned and upload with online application form or is it only we fill online form and take printout and send all supporting docs with printed form to BLS ???

Hi Everyone. My OCI was changed to printing status on Dec 09 and there is no update after that.

BLS status page keeps showing "Processing at Consulate". Please let me know if anyone else is waiting for their OCI application with a similar timeline?

For anyone who applied for a surrender of passport application at the Brampton or Toronto office, how long is it taking for them to process it? The website mentions minimum 8 weeks; is it really going to take that long?

OCI status got updated to UNDER-PROCESS on oci website with yesterday's acknowledgment date. However, on BLS it is changed to READY FOR DISPATCH.
I checked surrender certificate's status, It is showing "Surrender certificate has been printed" on MEA website, but on BLS it is showing " processing at consulate"

Is it normal?

It's finally changed to `Passport ready For Dispatch after OCI stamping `. But I don't see any tracking info and searched purolator using the Application Ref but no luck.

Hey Guys, Quick question; i am getting my Canadian Passport on Monday. And i am planning to go to BLS Brampton on Tuesday. Can i apply for passport surrender, entry visa and OCI on the same day?

If I attend my oath and leave to india with indian passport is it ok that I can come back after 7-9 months and apply for Canadian passport..

Is it considered legal?
The reason is I have an emergency and really have no time to surrender, do the oci/visa.instead just do the ceremony and leave and come back and use the certificate and apply for Canadian passport and will then surrender.. but to come back I might take some months more than 6

You cannot come back as they will make you cut your PR card into 4 pieces as part of oath.
