Entry Visa for visiting India - Can I apply with receipt of submission of Surrender of Indian Passport

What did you do to prove that your case needs to be processed in 'Urgent Category'? For both the citizenship certificate as well as the PP?

My citizenship certificate was expedited because my citizenship application was processed urgently.

For passport, I had a trip coming up in a few days so I booked an appointment and applied in-person. They gave me Express service and I got the passport in 2nd business day after I applied (there was a weekend in between).

Indian tourist visa will be issued starting Nov 15. The requirement of the Indian passport surrender certificate is applicable only in case Entry Visa or that applies to the Tourist Visa as well?

If you were a former Indian citizen, you MUST surrender your Indian passport for any kind of visa to India.

Hi Guyz, in regards to Entry Visa for Canadian citizens with Indian origin, we will get a duration for about 3 months or 6 months ? Also is it from the 'expected date of journey' that we fill on the application or is it from the date they stamp the passport with the Indian Visa ?

The entry visa is being given with a validity of 6 months. The validity period starts from the date the visa is stamped on the passport and it will be shown on the visa.

I have travel plan to India on 14th December and I recently received my Canadian passport. I plan to apply for entry visa and when in was filling the application there is one section previous visa details and in that there is question have you ever travelled to India and select type of visa if I press yes to travelled to India but there is no option of Indian passport there? Should I select no to previous visa details section? Can any one please help on providing this information?

Also, i suggest before your oath ceremony, book an appointment with BLS and that will be additional proof for expediting the CC. Just make sure you inform the authorities during the oath ceremony.

Hi. Did you get an answer for this? There is an additional question on the visa application, 'do you hold any other valid passport', can you pls suggest what you entered here. I am in a similar situation and i'm submitting both surrender and entry visa applications together. I am not sure how to answer these questions...

No I dint get answer to this. I plan to call bls customer care tomorrow

they have a policy of not helping with application questions unless you pay $35 fees.

Yes, I have received my certificate. It took me 3 working days to receive the certificate. Once you join the ceremony and inform them that you need the certificate sooner they’ll ask few questions and if satisfied will tell you how to share the proof. Usually it’s through email.

Oh wow. I have travel plans for the same date. Applied for entry visa and they received the application today. Haven't booked my ticket yet as I am not sure if I will get it by Dec 14th. Did you go through a travel agent? would you share how you booked the ticket please . THank you and cheers!
