I am in the same situation my work permit is expired.
I spoke to an IRCC agent they have advised to me to apply for visitor visa or request for a file transfer to India.
@legalfalcon could you please tell us how to request for a file transfer or on what basis should i apply for visitors visa?

Files cannot be transferred by requesting IRCC can be sent a file for processing at any visa office across its network. and clients have no say on where a file will be processed.

Any Update? I am also in the same boat, received my portal email but i am CEC-Outland, replied to the same email stating that my country of residence is India, i do not have visa to come to Canada, please help to get the Passport request for PR Visa, but no update from IRCC after that its been 10 days, how many days do they take to respond?

I got IRCC Permanent Residence Confirmation Portal email , which ask me to confirm if i live in Canada . I do live in Canada but currently came for visit to USA , what to do in this case . It didn't ask for physically present right , I think can confirm I live in Canada and provide my address

What happens if someone need to travel outside of canada between the first email and second email, for example, you are in canada, when you received first email, travel outside before getting second email, should we wait and come back and login using credentials?

The second email says to confirm, you are inside canada within 7 days of receiving, will that mean, if we don't come back within 7 days, the II email credentials will not work? How do we proceed this?

So I got the first e-mail from IRCC approving my PR application (Sunday, Nov. 28) and they asked for my name, UCI, etc. They also ask if I am currently in Canada (which I am) but I will be traveling outside of Canada this weekend - I am getting married in my home country. I did reply mentioning that in the e-mail and also stated my return date (which is in January), but today they still sent me the Portal Confirmation e-mail with my temporary credentials for the portal and told me that I have 7 days to reply. So my question is - how am I coming back to Canada now? I am aware that once I upload the photo and submit the information and get the confirmation, they will cancel my work permit which will basically block me from coming back. I was thinking about getting a PRTD; however, the Canadian consulate in my country is associated with the one in Zimbabwe and Botswana (so I believe the request would have to be sent and processed there --- most likely would take ages to have it completed, so I am not really sure how long all this would take.

My current work permit and visa will only expire in 2023. Additionally, I hold double citizenship and with my 2nd passport, I can enter Canada with an eTA only. - Can I use my second passport to re-enter Canada as a visitor?

Do you have any advice on how I should proceed? Can anyone please help me?

Like many people here, I am also CEC selected, but outside Canada now, and with no further information on what happens next.
When i emailed IRCC for PPR (since I am outside Canada) they responded by saying IRCC doesnt provide this, contact local Visa Office. And local visa office just says we wont respond to individual status queries.

As soon as your receive a COPR, all other visas are cancelled since you become a PR effective the date mentioned on your COPR.

IRCC has been sending ourt PPRs to applicants outside Canada. The pace is low and you will have to wait for your turn.

I have received an invitation from one of the provinces previous month and have already submitted the application. On the other hand my partner has been offered a work permit for Canada, me being the dependent applicant for the work permit.
Now I am really confused, should I leave job in my home country and apply for open work permit after reaching Canada or just wait for the PR which will take 7-8 months from here from the information which I could gather.
Or apply for work permit from my home country ?
Can someone please guide me little here.

Hi,

For those who used the new PR portal to confirm status.

Does the portal have an expiry?

I am currently temporarily visiting Australia, and sure enough 16 months after I submitted my application I finally get the PR confirmation portal email.

However, i can't confirm being in Canada, so I'm planning to return on our BOWP and then confirm my presence in Canada to activate my PR.

I will be travelling back in about 4-6 weeks.

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

I'll try call IRCC, however it's the weekend and it's a pain in the ass contacting them from within Canada, let alone from outside Canada.

@legalfalcon any words of wisdom?

Were you able to confirm your PR upon returning to Canada on BOWP? Same situation here, I don't know if there is an expiry on the PR portal to answer the first mail. Please advise what worked for you!

Hi! So I did travel, and I am still currently out of the country. I got the 2nd e-mail with the credentials to sign up for the portal and I did; however, I did not confirm that I was in Canada because well, I'm not lol I did send an e-mail to them saying that and submitted a letter to the web form as well (they didn't reply). I did not receive a COPR because I did not confirm my presence. My work permit is still valid until now so yeah...
