@legalfalcon , Thank you for the details. My medicals is valid till July 202q end. So incase if PPR is not sent by then, they would ask for another Medicals?

And does receiving the PR Confirmation Portal email means, the application is already approved? Because in my GC key login, even biometrics is not updated yet. .

If you get a message on the PR Confirmation Portal, then your application is approved.

That is strange. Were you exempt from biometrics?

You will have to apply for a new TRV. You can get travel to Canada on your COPR / PR visa if you are exempt from travel restrictions.

However, as a Work Permit holder, you are exempt from travel restrictions.

My work permit and trv expire on 25july 2021 (cec inland applicant) and I have received a confirmation portal outside Canada. Now flights are cancelled till 31 july. I guess I will never make it back.
What will happen now? Am I stuck in india foreever.? Is there a way out of this?.

IF you are not in Canada then a COPR cannot be issued to you until you return and are physically in Canada. Alternatively, if you do not intend to return, you can inform IRCC and when the travel restrictions are eased, you will be sent a PPR to submit your passport for COPR and visa.

That could be the reason why you do not see biometrics number etc. on your MyCIC profile.

Legalfalcon I do intend to return but the flights are cancelled. I tried inform ircc via webform but they just give me a generic answer in the emails. Do you know if there is another way to reach them so that I can inform them about my condition.

If you do intend to return, just wait until the flight resume. Once you are in Canada you can then inform IRCC that you are now physically present in Canada.

Should I update and change my address to india so that I can get ppr?. The flight resumes on 31 July and my work permit and trv expires on 25 july. Have you ever heard of a case like me. If I know there has been someone in my situation like this that will be reassuring for me. Thanks again

This whole process of COVID is fairly new. So fining a case similar to your would not be difficult if you search around.

The bottom line is if you cannot be physically in Canada, then you should change your address so that when the PPRs resume for India, you will be sent one.

However, if you have a possibility of retuning, you may get the COPR faster by being physically in Canada, so it is all circumstantial.

I just read that a refusal to reenter the country would mean an immediate withdrawal of your application if you have an inland pr application and your outside canada.

Not sure where you are reading such things which are false. No country in the world can force you to reenter a specific country before a date.

First of all, there nothing in law such a inland or outland. Based on your country of residence how the COPR will be issued is determined. For anyone in Canada, they do not need a visa since they are already here and are issued a COPR.

If you are not physically in Canada, a COPR cannot be issued to you. You will either have to enter Canada and inform IRCC or inform IRCC of your country of residence, and as and when the PPRs are being issued, one will be issued to you as well.

I am looking to travel via third country to canada before my work permit expires . That is why I wanted to know If I am refused entry because I only have a few days left on my wp nothing will happen to my application right?

Hi,

For those who used the new PR portal to confirm status.

Does the portal have an expiry?

I am currently temporarily visiting Australia, and sure enough 16 months after I submitted my application I finally get the PR confirmation portal email.

However, i can't confirm being in Canada, so I'm planning to return on our BOWP and then confirm my presence in Canada to activate my PR.

I will be travelling back in about 4-6 weeks.

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

I'll try call IRCC, however it's the weekend and it's a pain in the ass contacting them from within Canada, let alone from outside Canada.

@legalfalcon any words of wisdom?
