My Updated Timeline for Renewal
  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on July 5, 2021.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on November 5, 2021.
  3. We started processing your application on November 5, 2021.
  4. Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on November 9, 2021.
Application Status as of today is Complete.
Did you get a "Decision Made" notice on the same day as processing? Mine says "in process" but has not changed to "Decision Made". What is the timeline for that?

If you can get to a land crossing, you can cross in a "private vehicle" with the proper paperwork (or you used to be able to. I'd check with an attorney as well.) When I did it ~5 years ago, I had my entire application copies, my original landing paper. (IMwhateveritis - the long brown and white thing) and anything else I felt might help establish my residency. They glanced at my paperwork for 2 seconds and I rolled through. The times being what they are I should note I'm a yt male and was in a rental car - did a Buffalo to Pearson drop off - but rental car compaies aren't doing that anymore cuz Covid. You could get someone to come get you, or probably do an uber/lyft kind of thing. Or go round trip to get your card and bring the car back. It's a pain, but it can be done

I had checked in with an attorney before I left Canada to be sure it was cool, they assured me it was. I am going to check with them again to see if anything has changed. Basically, unless they want to try to pull your Resident status (which is a process that take some time) they had to let you in (they had to let you in even if they wanted to pull it, and you could appeal/fight it, but it might affect getting your card, I guess.) So, basically if you can get in the states with no hassle, and your application is otherwise legit, you used to be able to cross in private vehicle. I assume, but have not verified, this is still correct.

Hope this helps.
Thanks. That's what we are currently planning on doing. We have a trip scheduled in December and my husband has not received the PR card yet. So I will fly back to Canada while he flies to Buffalo. (He is an American citizen so hopefully that won't be an issue.) I will drive across to get him and hopefully cross back without an issue. We will provide as much in terms of ID as possible (drivers license, OHIP card, business card, NOAs from taxes, etc.) Think that'll work?

Does yours say "in progress"?
Out citizenship status says in progress from Dec 30th, 2019 ... Even if I select PR card" and enter my UCI and other details it still takes me to the citizenship status which is a decision made - Oath pending. I don't know if there is another page exclusive for PR renewal

My husband is an American citizen, so he will fly to Buffalo and then I will drive across the border to pick him up. With luck, his card will arrive when we are away but if not, we will bring other identifying documents to get him back. Hope yours works out!

Hi, we (myself, spouse, and child) softlanded from the US in September and had our PR cards applied. I saw a ghost update on all 3 PR card apps mid last week and had mine & spouse's PR card app status showing as approved/mailed early this week, but child's app is still showing as Submitted. Is that usual that not all family members get approved at the same time, or did they miss processing something? Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!
