Hello,

So this is a tough question to answer.
About 12 years ago i applied for citizenship and left Canada with my Canadian wife. My application was returned since it was missing a couple of documents. Now after 12 years my PR is expired, after applying for a TRV i got an email asking if i wanted to renounce or try and get my PR back.
Any input on this and has this happened with anyone before.
Is it possible i could resume my citizenship application? I havent been to Canada in 10 years. Any help would be appreciated.

No, because one of the requirements to apply for citizenship is 1095 days of physical presence within the last 5 years while you are PR. You can’t meet this requirement. So, no, you can’t. However, since your wife is Canadian, there is a way so you can become PR again, and after three years, and meeting other requirements, you can apply for citizenship again.

No, unfortunately it is considered as an abandoned application. You need to apply again after renouncing/obtaining your PR status and meeting all requirements including physical presence requirement.

There's small chance that you still keep your pr status if you didn't renounce (your pr card can be expired, but pr status can be valid)

If you were outside of Canada with your Canadian wife and she worked for Canadian company, you have pretty good chance to keep your pr status.

She doesnt work for a Canadian company. But i was wondering about the Citizenship application submitted long ago

The citizenship application is dead and has been dead for over a decade. There's no way to reopen it.

As others have said, you would need to return to Canada as a permanent resident and live here for three years before you'll be able to apply for citizenship again.

This is I gathered from reading posts and ircc pages :
If the application is returned , without an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) then you are expected to resubmit an application. If you got an AOR and they are asking for additional doc, then usually it is mentioned in the letter within 60 or 90 (not sure what is the exact no) you are expected to provide information / documentation or else the application is considered abandoned and void.

Since the citizenship application was returned as incomplete and you never received AOR, it never even started in the first place...there would have been nothing to resume.

Inactually received an AOR and did an interview but never went past that.
