Hi everyone,

It's a tough and tricky situation for us to be in right now.

My parents already did the medical exams, biometrics .... and received a letter to submit their passports for landing visa to become PR.
They have prepared all the documents and just right before the date my dad was going to the application center to submit the documents, he fell suddenly very ill and has been in deep coma for a couple of months already.

We haven't been able to submit the documents yet due to Covid, and him being sick without knowing whether he will make it or not.

We asked for the extension and it was granted.
I am the only child and and still want my mom to cross the border even if my dad (principal applicant) could not make it.

I was thinking of still submitting the documents to get the visa, with hope that he will get through the illness by the deadline for landing. I am afraid if I notify CIC, I will have to redo the whole application again as my mom is not the primary applicant.

Here is some of the questions/scenarios I have in this situation:
1. In the case my dad deceased, can my Mom still cross the border later on her own (once receiving the visa and us notifying them of the death)?
2. If we notify CIC now, does anyone know what would be the scenarios?

I am not sure if I can ask CIC directly about my situation as it's fairly unique. But if anyone knows anything about this, I would really appreciate.

Regards

First of all I am sorry to hear about your father’s poor health. You must notify IRCC of any changes to health or that is considered misrepresentation and could lead to them losing PR if they were granted it without you advising IRCC about your father’s change in health.

1. If your father passes away your mother would need to submit his death certificate and change to the primary applicant.
2. You don’t have any option you have to notify IRCC about this significant change in health. He is also the primary applicant so must land first or with your mother so your mother can’t just arrive on her own.
