Hey.. Thanks for comment, Yes Old passport is cancelled and new application status is Initiated for Print, Yet no police verification initiated, Let see what happens next.

Where do we check the status for old passport? If I enter teh file number, it says that application reference number is not valid. Please help. Thank you.

Usually people speculate this as "Old passport cancelled."

Hi, is there any workaround for this? I am in urgent need of a passport and cannot wait for 4-6 weeks for normal processing. The problem is if I selected marital status as 'Married' then the Spouse name becomes a required field. My application was returned saying Spouse name cannot be added under Tatkaal application!! I just want my passport ASAP but if I give my correct marital status I cannot get the passport under Tatkaal!!

Can you guys suggest any workaround?? Is there a way that you enter marital status as 'Married' but not opt to add spouse name??

Hi, I had also applied for tatkal, my application was rejected and I was in the same boat. So I asked the BLS representative and they mentioned that it would not be right as you cannot report false information. Moreover, if you will try to add your spouse name later, they will get to know that you reported false information as marriage certificate would have been issued at a prior date. For those who have applied for passport renewal in BLS Ottawa, though your passport is dispatched from Delhi to HCI Ottawa expect some delay as the HCI is not dispatching the received passports to BLS as the lady who processes them has tested COVID positive and most of the staff from HCI Ottawa are isolating except one or two.

For Toronto applicants it’s printed in CGI Toronto but for BLS Ottawa applicants it’s printed in Delhi and dispatched to HCI Ottawa

Hi guys,

I applied for passport renewal on Aug 20, 2021 via in person appointment at BLS Toronto.
Since then, my application status on passport seva website is "Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate.".

A file number was generate within the week of submitting the application and I've seen no movement since then.
As I am a PR in Canada, I was asked to put my Canadian address as passport to be printed and Indian address as other address.

My worry is that it has been almost 5 weeks and there is no movement and I have to travel to India for my wedding in November.
But I can't book tickets until I have the new passport number.

I've raise a query to Toronto High Commission via sampark and I am yet to hear back from them.
No one In India has contacted my parents for Police verification, and I haven't received any email from the Consulate reg any such initiation.

What can I do to check the status of my application ?

Same for my mother’s passport renewal application too . The status hasn’t changed in last 5 weeks . I applied her renewal on Aug 30 with a walk in appointment .. will keep you posted if I see any updates

Im going for indian passport renewal (i have alias on the passport) and the guy in the processing center said i have to remove the alias.

Currently my name looks like this in the indian passport. "Surname: ___________ (blank)", "Given Name: Sanjay Also Known As Rohit Kapoor" ... these are just made up name but this is the format of my passport name.

Upon looking in this website: https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/page/passport-faqs/

They said I can remove the "Also Known As" without going through a long process. OK GREAT!

My question is, Can I remove the "Also Known As" and also move the "Kapoor" to the Surname without going through a long process of newspaper, etc...?

So the name on my new passport will look like "Surname: Kapoor" , "Given Name: Rohit".

This is allowed right?

You should visit BLS Brampton or Toronto center post 3:00 PM and raise this query to them. They entertain queries post 3 PM. This will avoid the chance of application getting rejected by them

i already sent email to nearby bls centers (3), 1 already replied but didnt gave any answer yet regarding my situation.

what im thinking, i will create 2 applications with different formats of names and then at the bls center, i will just ask them which they will accept.

Hello guys, Need some help ... I am going to apply for my passport renewal in-person at BLS Scarborough .... just wanted to confirm the docs which need to be enclosed just so that i don't messup the opportunity

1. Application Form (passportindia.gov.in)
2. Annexure E
3. old passport
4. passport first an last pages - copy
5. PR Card
6. COPR
7. Marriage certificate - No spousal name on the old passport
8. Canada address proof
9. photos - 2

Ques 1: Do we need to provide an Indian address proof? I have a different address on my passport and my parent dont live at that address anymore...
Ques 2: Also, I heard from one of my friends that BLS is asking for "Landing Paper" other than COPR. I landed in 2015 and I don't think they gave any landing paper.

Please advise.
