Hi and thanks for the reply.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole point of niching down and doing an MSc for you to become an expert in a field you want to base your career around?

An MBA is a bit too general for me and my career aspirations, and I feel like an MSc makes much more sense for my career pathway.

And I've looked at MBA programs in Canada, and my choices are a bit limited.

For the ones that run for 2 years (I need a 2 year program for a 3 year PGWP), most are general and don't allow you to choose a specialization like Marketing, and I can't join the big dogs like McGill because of my 3.04/4 GPA.

That's why Concordia and their MSc Marketing program ticks all the boxes.

You think this will play against me in my SOP?

I've had a look at online resources for MSc Marketing career paths, and digital marketing manager / content marketing manager always comes up. And truth be told, this is exactly what I'm looking to do, take up such a managerial role.
I personally think the MSc in Marketing is perfect for you. You seem to have good experience, are eloquent and will be able present a solid case in your study plan.

All the best.

It really tough to say. As an entrepreneur who has already sold a company there will be doubts as to why you need a to do a masters to advance your career. When it comes to fast moving professions like online media, courses can’t keep up with the field of study.

Yeah I know what you mean, but I don't want to make it sound like I'm Elon Musk and I sold Tesla, haha.

Besides, the point is that I don't necessarily want to keep doing this on my own for the rest of my life, but would like to join an exciting project where I get to bring in all my expertise + new found knowledge from an MSc and take it from there,

It also helps that not all of my projects were massively successful. One was, the other one succeeded massively for the first year and a half and then failed miserably, while the third did okay at best. One thing I'll focus on in my SOP is that I want to shift to something more stable and with much less uncertainties/waiting times which are involved in Entrepreneurship, which I really do want for the near future.

Of course, if I don't like that experience and feel like I'm a lion in a penguin's playground, I can always go back to doing my own thing after I get a PR.

I studied a Bachelor's in Business with a focus in accounting, loved (and still love) business but absolutely hated (and still hate) accounting, which is why I decided not to pursue a career in that, but try my hand at internet marketing instead.

Had I studied a Bachelor's in Business with a focus in marketing, I think it'd be a different story. But I only found myself and what I love to do after graduating with a bachelor's from a completely different focus, and I'd like to solidify my resume with an MSc which I graduate with flying colors from, because it's something I love and I know I can give it my all.

As for your last sentence, I wholeheartedly agree, and I wish I could change that. But in an MSc in Marketing degree, it's not like I'm going to be studying digital marketing / content marketing only. It's a whole bunch of solid basics about all aspects of Marketing thrown together in one basket, and you'll have lots of new opportunities up after graduation.

Will be tough to justify going from being an entrepreneur and selling a company for good money to a job with a fraction of the salary where you are not the bods. It is really viewed as a step back. Not having all projects succeed is just normal in the space. Your practicql knowledge will likely be considered more advanced than marketing thepry. You also have s business degree background even if it is in accounting which did give you the fundamentals of business. You should certainly apply but personally think it is a big stretch to think that going to a corporate marketing job would be considered career advancement.

Yeah I get where you're coming from and you definitely have a point, but I'm hoping these are things that I can (and I will) address in the SOP in detail so that the VO knows exactly why I'm doing what I'm doing and how it makes sense for me and my career path.

As you said, best thing I can do is apply and see what happens. If I don't, I'll never know!
