In my opinion, look for the USA jurisdiction list of documents or checklist and see if you can apply or not. Also another forum discussion from 2016 says "Yes".

I don't see why not. If you are residing in the US, you should be able to submit your application to the consulate responsible for your jurisdiction. I think VFS is the third-party responsible for receiving applications in the US.

Yes, you should be able to do that (At least I don't see why you cannot). Look at the instructions on the third party website responsible for the jurisdiction you're staying in. I think VFS handles applications for Indian consulates in the US.

NY GCI is at least responsive and said it will take a min 30 days. I will continue to check and will update on my status. But I am positive you will get response earlier than mine as you applied at least 2 weeks before I did. Fingers crossed.

It's been 5 weeks now for my daughter's OCI Miscellaneous application, but still no progress beyond under consideration. Any updates on your child's case?

Not 100% on this so to be on the safer side, get 2 drafts of CAD 345 each just to be 100% sure.

Hello everyone,
I am going to apply for the OCI card. My husband does not have one, and does not want to apply. My issue is that my husband lost his Landing paper, and I just learned from this thread that I will need his landing paper to apply for my OCI.

Can anyone advice what can I do now. Do you think the officer at BLS will accept my application without my husband's card? Please advice.

The OCI application for my child (walk in on 26th Aug) says Processing at Consulate General on BLS website but still says no record found on OCI status enquiry page. Is that normal?

These are our final timelines. We had to call BLS to remind them that we had sought their return services. If not, they were expecting us to pick up the OCI from their offices !! How professional.

Payment to BLS: 7th July 2021

Documents sent on: 20th July 2021

Delivered to BLS on: 21st July 2021

Processing starts at CGI: 1st August 2021

Processed at CGI: 20th August 2021 (Date of Issue)

Dispatched from CGI : 21st August 2021

Hello everyone,
I am going to apply for the OCI card. My husband does not have one, and does not want to apply. My issue is that my husband lost his Landing paper, and I just learned from this thread that I will need his landing paper to apply for my OCI.

Yes, if your husband has lost the Landing paper, you can provide them your Husband's PR card. Basically they need to see the CATEGORY under which he immigrated to Canada. If your PR card has the category mentioned at the back, this will serve the purpose.

P.S - The new PR cards do not have the category mentioned at their back, so in that case, one needs to apply for their Landing Paper (COPR) first from CIC and then apply for OCI.

If in any case you (the main applicant) looses their Landing Paper (COPR), he/she can apply with the PR card or photocopy of PR card (if he/she is already a citizen). They will ask you the write a letter stating that you lost you Landing paper and which is why you are applying using PR card.
