Because they really haven't been working at full capacity for 18months, and they never stopped accepting applications. Safe to say that most(if not all) of the applications received post March 18th 2020 aren't finalized yet. Add the applications they had in the works before March 18th as well.

I feel nothing has really changed because we still can not tell if these guys are back at the office. I read somewhere that all federal workers have till end of September to get vaccinated. Maybe that's a tentative date to resuming full in-office activities across board?
Interesting. Thanks for sharing that. I wasn't aware. I hope that most of them are already vaccinated and back to working normally.
I am not sure but I don't think so. I think the s16 thingy is valid across board. My security hasn't started in the last notes I received. Ordered another one some two weeks ago. It's been some 3months since the first one so I want to see if anything has changed.
What's S16? :)

That's the situation in Mexico VO : "The Immigration section of the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City continues to work with essential staff only and providing essential urgent services through teleworking. This therefore limits our capacity to provide regular case updates to all applicants. We will be in contact with you with further instructions when we are able to do so."
Thanks for the information. I guess we won't see much movement until these guys start to work from the office in full capacity.

I wonder why those offices have the biggest backlogs.

Because those two offices handle the largest number of applications. Specifically:

CIO Sydney accepts ALL applications (it is THE Intake office) in the following categories:
  • FSW
  • FST
  • CEC
  • PNP
  • Start-Up Visa
  • Quebec Investors or Entrepreneurs
  • QSW
  • Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Class
  • Federal Self-Employed Persons and Quebec Selected Self-Employed Persons
CPC Sydney processes:
  • applications for permanent resident cards (new and renewals)
  • citizenship applications (new, renouncing, revoking and resuming)
CPC Ottawa processes:
  • visitor visa (temporary resident visa) applications from within Canada for applicants with valid status (students or temporary foreign workers only).
  • permanent resident visa applications from the United States and Canada, after they have been received and deemed complete by CPC Mississauga or CIO Sydney.
The OSC Ottawa processes the following applications:
  • International Experience Canada work permits
  • In-Canada temporary resident applications submitted online
  • Verification of Status (VOS)
  • Replacement of valid temporary resident documents
  • Amendment of immigration documents and of valid temporary resident documents
The vast majority of applications for any sort of Canadian status, especially PR, flow through Sydney first, then mostly to Ottawa.

I got my first and only GCMS notes back on Aug 30. Very little activity recently. Besides my medical being extended back in April, the last activity I can see is from Oct and Nov of 2020. I do know my medicals are extended until mid-April of 2022, so I'm hopeful that they resume processing applications soon as I still have over 1 month of more-than-6-months of validity on them.

Security and criminality not yet started. The patient wait continues.

That’s what I have always wondered. When we talk about people returning to office in full capacity post covid, what happens in VOs in countries where vaccination rates are lower than many other parts of the world.

I just logged into my IRCC account ( I am pathetic, I do this everyday). I noticed the 'current status' row say 'Application profile updated' but when I clicked the link, I saw nothing changed (Eligibility still pending, etc even though I know from GCMS that it has passed. See signature).

After clicking the link, the current status went back to 'submitted'. Is this the ghost update I've been waiting for?
It means nothing or it means some officer has done some work on your file. Is your medical extension visible on your online profile?
Hopefully you hear something soon.

Which site did you order through? I'd be happy with 45 days for mine.

IRCC, haha. Is it true you get more security info from CBSA?

I am not planning on ordering another GCMS now. Looking at the wait times. Ill probably get my application processed by the time I get a reply for my gcms status.

Much appreciated! :D
Thank you! :)

They seem to be restarting draws for International Experience Canada on September 13th

This is hilarious. Seriously, what the actual fuck. There's updates on everything except FSW, and now tourists and working holiday visas are categorized over fsw too?

All these visas are processed very easily, so now they have this idiotic circular logic of "FSW takes time to process, so let's delay it more, so it take more time to process"

Well their next draw is next week, hopefully this means the next express entry draw is also all categories.
