So that might be the reason my application is stuck at "Test Pending Clearance" stage. As for my first job I had to travel for business to probably two dozens of countries. That really sucks as my application is now 11 month since AOR.

No that’s not true, it all depends on your previous county of residence!
I waited over 8+ months for BG checks and I had extensive travel too so there is no saying.

It depends not just on your previous country but a lot of factors like Name, Positive hits against your name in the several ‘naughty’ lists maintained by different countries especially the G7 countries, possible family ties to ‘naughty’ organizations or groups, countries you have travelled to (sanctioned=more scrutiny) etc.

Nah. I am not sure why my application is stuck. My name and last name is not a common name. Agreed doesn't have to do with travels as travelled mostly to European countries like Germany or UK and many SE Asian countries. The previous country of residence might be the reason.

In my case I know for a fact its because of my name.
When I applied for PR and the BG checks took like 4 months when my peers already had their passport requests I thought it might be a coincidence.

But once I was in CA and I applied for a US tourist visa and that took 3 months when my friend who applied on the same day along with me got it in 4 days, I knew something was up. Long story short through some mutual connections in the visa processing centre, I found out that the application was being delayed due to name issues.

Name issues are for sure reasons for delay. My case is ridiculously for no reason is delayed. I have seen a lot of people who do not reside in Canada while their application is running and have no intention to live in Canada after getting their passports, and have contributed minimum to zero dollars to CRA and get invited for tests and oath in less than a year. On the contrary, kicked my ass off since landed, paid top dollars to CRA, contributed millions of dollars in made in Canada export products helping the country's GDP, did an MBA while working, had a new child etc etc and a case like me have to wait 15 months and no progress. Didn't even have a driving ticket all these years in the country. I am pissed off for sure...

You sounded like me, same feeling here and I am also stuck with BC. I can't change my name AND Country of Origin. To me, It all comes down to country of origin as the main driver for BC but remember they always pick people "Randomly" eh .

I have a pretty unique name and no criminal record or any travel history whatsoever after becoming PR but my BC was only completed on Aug 31, 2021 after applying on June 30 2020. It is quite annoying. Only God knows how long to get test email let alone oath.

Yup. Same here. Applied June 10th. Previous country of residence could be. But my wife got invited to test three month ago despite she applied three months later than me. I don't know honestly. You can't come up with logical conclusion where things are illogical. And agreed I feel everything is random and more importantly government staff don't give a s... They are well paid and no performance evaluation. What should we expect ...

Why I can’t stop thinking that it has something to do with month of June 2020. The individuals mostly applied in June 2020 whosr BG are stucked.

Yeah. Looks like June 2020 was the worst month to apply...

I don’t get it how these files are picked up for detailed BG checks! In my case my wife and mine BG is in progress since AOR! Never travelled outside canada even for once after becoming PR , had PR in less than 4 moths! I won’t mind waiting if things are genuinely delayed due to covid or departmental delays but the thing is people who applied after me have already got their test invites! So stressful all this Citizenship process seems! I’m sure June 2020 is the month when instead of starting processing of the citizenship applications IRCC sent these applications to departments for detailed BG checks just to buy more time and to punish these people who applied during the covid and it’s locke-down.

Let me give you an idea about how messed up this whole thing is.

I am a August 2020 applicant.

A colleague of mine applied in January 2021, I helped her with the application. She had around 43 trips in the past 4 years, her residence calculator was like 5 pages.

Her office is Scarborough too and her BG checks were set to complete the same day as me and in all likelihood our test invites will come together. My BG checks took 9 months to complete.

So there you have it. I used to be frustrated all the time thinking of future plans and decisions, but I have no expectations whatsoever regarding timelines anymore. Just carrying on with life, in the end IRCC will do things when they have to.
