Since most of you already passed biometric stage, a quick question I had:
Is there any other document I need to carry with me during my biometric enrolement appointment?
Here I listed the documents I am carrying:
1. Biometric Instruction Letter - IMM5756
2. Email from VFS confirming the details of my appointment
3. VFS consent form (2 copies)
4. Passport
And your phone number that's all

Hello guys,

I have seen on our tracking spreadsheet that around 20 to 30% applicants from January and February month have already received their COPR within 6 months. Is it a regular timeline? Or is it take around 12 months like IRCC says on their website?

Thank you.

You can't predict or tell....And I will say, it is also based on the Visa office working on the applications. I see some getting their Spousal sponsorship approval in 4 month time....Hopefully, they planning to work things out fast if everything is right and they have no doubt. They also say they take family class more seriously these days so let's hope so.....You can't actually know how they do things....They can change their mind anytime.

Does anyone know roughly how many days/weeks it takes to get MR after SA/Bio request? Or for the file to be received at the VO after SA? I'm waiting for my bio appointment, and to be able to produce the 2 police certificates I was requested but would like to know if anyone has some input about those questions. I know nothing follows a standard order.
Hello bigdaycoming. For us, we got medical request end of August. Took us 102 days between app received and med request. We got SA/Bio request right after AOR in July. It really depends on your VO. Some VO's request it later while others request it along with Bio.

The way I understand it is that IRCC has no obligation to process anyone's application in under 12 months. However, when the application is very straightforward, everything is filled out correctly and provided in a speedy fashion - it can go a little (or a lot) faster. For example, the April 2021 cohort already has a bunch of passport requests, and even some COPRs. The month of May seems to be considerably behind for now, which might mean that things will start happening soon, or that the IRCC resources were reallocated and our processing pattern will just be very different from the previous few months. Basically, "the rule is that there are no rules" (c) :)

IRCC seems to phrase the '12 months' guideline in a way to say that 'most applications are complete in 12 months', and where (pretty consistently) the "most" can / should be read to mean approximately 80%. And the remaining 20% of files that take longer are "more complex". (We actually don't know whether 'complexity' is a function of the file/applicant/process or just definitional in that it includes all files that happen to take longer than 12 months)

BUT: this means that a LOT of files, almost 80%, got processed in less than 12 months (to be a tiny bit facetious, 79% got processed in less than 12 months.

Or when I looked at data from reports here (pre-covid), it was about 50% that were done in about six-seven months.

Or even more simply: it's completely normal that a lot of files would get done quickly ie six months (say about half), another 30% in the next six months, and then 20% just take longer, including some that take a lot longer.

[One major caveat here: that 'most done in 12 months' has absolutely not held during covid - using the previous definition, perhaps it went as high as 18-20 months and they are catching up - only a guess.]

Recent experience of some files going quickly is a reversion to the pre-covid processing times and not an exception. IRCC is catching up, clearing backlogs, and getting closer to pre-covid processing times.

Files are not processed (finished anyway) on a first-come, first-served basis, and never have been.

Could you please tell me where you got VFS Consent form?
I called VFS last week and they mentioned that they will give the PA the document during the appointment to sign. The PA does not need to carry.
Do you have a link?
The consent form was not present in the email VFS sent me after we booked the appointment.

I recently sent some additional documents to IRCC, this is the email I received from them
I saw someone mentioned that they are not able to reach out to IRCC on the phone.
This may be the reason:

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
In order to respond to a high volume of enquiries related to the crisis in Afghanistan, we have needed to shift resources in our Client Support Centre. This will impact our ability to respond to some of your enquiries.

We will respond to these priority enquiries only:
· Clients in crisis situations (like those affected by the situation in Afghanistan)
· Clients facing vulnerable circumstances (emergency and urgent requests)
· Clients who need to tell us about a change in their circumstances, which has a direct impact on their application (like marriage, birth of a child, or similar)
· Clients who are submitting documents requested by one of our officers
· Changes in contact information
· Requests to withdraw an application or refunds

If your enquiry is NOT one of the priority enquiries listed above, you will not receive a reply.
If you included attachments with your enquiry, rest assured that they will be added to your file shortly.

Yeah, that's also what you hear on the phone. But there appears to be no way to get in touch with them, even if you are the one with the issue from their list, you don't get connected. That's our situation, and I am very reluctant to send a webform as this usually just means an additional delay, but I am afraid don't believe we'd be able to speak to them any time soon. I really hope I am wrong.

Thank you. I will be patient! Just found out today my VO is Ottawa. So far they have been very good timing wise.
