I scanned my passports but I dont understand how they need a maximum file of 5mb when the files are colored. Was anyone able to achieve that, and how ?

It is very interesting. I have been asked to mail/courier my passport pages. It looks like all offices have their own working style.
Your office is Scarborough, I'm assuming? Maybe they do things old-school because I was under the impression that MTL also asked for scans.

WIth 96 dpi it's....possible, but your pictures are going to look kinda cronchy. I'd say 72 - 96 dpi is possible, and if you convert to something like PNG and then run tinyPNG, it might be possible.

Also might want to arrange two in a page and use my favorite tool, Free PDF Compressor to achieve results. A few options, but you'll need to do some fiddling around :D

I sent mine in three separate files, I'm wondering if they accepted it :/

Yes, I agree some offices might have their own SOP and my processing office is Scarborough.

Update : Did the test, got 19/20. The perfectionist in me is slightly miffed, but who cares, it is done :D.

Now I'll wait for the update on the tracker and I'll get my passport pages done today and that will be that - the ball will be back in IRCC's court.

Hi All,

I got the emails to scan the passport and send it to the Scarborough office for myself and my spouse. But the same is NOT asked for the 6 year old / minor. Is this possible that the children's passport scans were not asked to sent ?

Kids dont need specific minimum number of residence days hence officers dont need to verify passport pages for entry-exit dates to confirm physical presence days. So thats why they didnt ask for the child.

The update on the tracker is also with IRCC. Get the passport pages done and sent and after that everything is in IRCCs court and the waiting part for sure is with you.....that is the only thing that seems to be constant with this process.....

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it could definitely have helped to have maybe announced this to everyone still waiting so they could get everything done and ready (scanning all pages of one's passport takes time; I've done it once before just as a data archive activity and keeping that damned thing flat on the scanner just makes me ..... ugh  )
Just a heads up - my partner's lawyer suggested he proactively send his passport pages, as maybe it might get someone to take a look at his application and they wouldn't have to do the back and forth when the request eventually comes in. He sent it over and IRCC responded saying they didn't ask for passport pages. No activity since April 12th background check completion either. So, it appears proactively sending in passport pages has no benefit.

I wasn't suggesting pro-actively sending the documents to the IRCC; more that you should plan to get it done and have the PDF ready to go in advance if asked. I just got done with it and sent it out and it took a good amount of time - about an hour or so - patiently scanning each and every page, assembling all of it into a PDF, double- and triple-checking that all pages were there and nothing was missing, etc. What a chore!

Ultimately, the file size was 2.22 MB (including the Arabic translations for two entry and exit stamps on my passport from the translator) and I sent it out. Now, I shall go back to peaceful slumber (as will the IRCC, no doubt ;))
