Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Closing my saga out - picked up my passport envelope yesterday from Canada Post. Curiously, the original Citizenship Certificate wasn't sent along, but on enquiring with the MP's office, they said that it will be 'dispatched later'. So I figure it'll be a week or two more until I get that...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

If your travel falls under a threshold of 10 business days, you can call in and request a transfer. They require proof of your upcoming travel, so a confirmed ticket, for example. The agent on the phone did ask if I had a preference for an office when he put in the request, but what's curious is...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Got a delivery notice from Canada Post and my MP's office contacted me to ask if I'd gotten it. Need to head down to the Canada Post office to sign for it and hopefully, that's the end of it! :D

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

They kick up a fuss and ask you for 'survey purposes' (lol) how you got hold of the number because they're trying to expunge it from the internet as much as possible. As it was explained to me (via a small lecture, though they ultimately helped me), that number was meant for use of Guarantors to...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hah, identical timelines, almost down to the date we listed (extra bonus points if we both wind up on an Air Canada plane to Charlotte, lol) Same update in my case as well - they said to expect the passport at some point this week or early next week (cutting it really close).

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Decided to roll the dice, called in and asked for a transfer to Toronto office as my flight now comes in under 10 business days. Prior to putting in the request, the agent on the phone told me that it was still 'under examination'. Anyway, the agent said that he put in the request, that there...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Yeah, me too - I think I might have to cancel my trip to the US at any rate, but hopefully it comes before my NEXUS appointment. But yeah, I'm based in Toronto, always down to share a cold one with fellow people stuck in the system. :)

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

I'm waiting till next week to call in for mine (Travelling on July 30) so I'll be watching your situation with great interest, @BuzzBuzz In my case I have two additional complications: 1. My guarantor is an inveterate traveler himself, so he's likely going to be somewhere in the jungle in...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Not to derail this thread but can I just point out that this statement is, by far, the most hilarious one I've ever seen? We're new Canadians. We've never voted for any political party here locally, for any federal election. So in no way is this our fault and literally not one of the...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

So, I called both the payment line and the regular status line (called at the dot of 8:30 AM and there were 100 people ahead of me in line (which thankfully moved quickly - I was speaking to an agent within 30 mins). Here's what I found out about my application. 1. My credit card hasn't been...

Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Dude, maybe you're the lucky one that they forgot to charge and gets their passport made for freeeee! In seriousness though, with the current backlogs it might just be down to that - worth calling them up (if you can get to them) and asking for a status update on your application.

    November 2020 - Citizenship Application

Nope, nothing yet - I imagine it'll be at least a month before any sort of meaningful update. I'm just keeping my eyes peeled for when my credit card gets charged because then I know something is happening, but until then - just going to focus on other things, like enjoying my summer without the...
