Congratulations man. So happy for you.
Does the expedited processing for the citizenship certificate cost more? Why doesn't everyone do it?
No, it doesn't. You need a valid reason to expedite the dispatch of citizenship certificate. If Urgent processing of your application was approved, they don't ask too many questions and they will expedite the processing of citizenship certificate. When I told him I also have a trip coming up next week and I'll have to apply for urgent passport, he asked me what's the reason for the trip (not urgent but I still can't travel without a Canadian passport). Then he told me that he can can see that my UP request was approved so as long as I send the oath form in a timely manner without mistakes, he will work on expediting the citizenship certificate.

What are the typical timelines for normal delivery of citizenship certificate vs urgent / expedited delivery?

What are the typical timelines for normal delivery of citizenship certificate vs urgent / expedited delivery?
Normal would take anywhere between a week and 4 weeks, I guess (depending on where you live and how far you are away from the office AND when the officer closes the files and arranges for the dispatch of certificate). Urgent should be 2 - 3 days (again, depending on the factors I mentioned above).

Its all done guys! I'm finally a Canadian Citizen :) . I have requested expedited processing for citizenship certificate so that I can apply for the federal job for which UP was approved (and I also have a trip coming up soon).

I have signed and submitted the confirmation of oath form (signed electronically).

I'll be posting a detailed experience soon.
Great news Raj. A well deserved milestone!

The status dashboard shows this (I guess they closed the application right after I sent them the oath form)

Your citizenship application status: Closed
Reason: We have approved your application to become a Canadian citizen.

Congratulations!
You are now a Canadian citizen. Welcome to the Canadian family!

Within the next few weeks, you’ll receive documents and information for your next steps as a new citizen.

Citizenship oath activity status updated

Citizenship ceremony

Citizenship oath status has been updated to Completed
The ECAS status shows "Complete":

6. You became a Canadian citizen on August 23, 2021.
Looks like they already mailed the certificate out (or I hope, at least).

Hi everyone! I’m an Alberta applicant and there is still no movement in our office. In the mean time I was just wondering if the “background” in the tracker shows complete, does it mean my papers are all good? I know that every single part is important and has to be completed in order to getting your citizenship and blah blah blah. But I just wanted to hear some “norml human” opinions, not what I can easily hear from an officer. Thanks

your background check only refers to security and criminal record check. If it’s completed, it is specifically for that, and not the rest of the application
