There is a "Visitor" dropdown in the application form now for Q13. It wasn't there before October 2020. I would recommend including visitor statuses in there because the application form has an explicit option called "Visitor".
Yes I know about drop down thing.
Although, in the application guide they don’t ask about it. We should follow the guide I reckon.
Also, visitor status is giver every time you enter every country in your life(with visa or no visa this doesn’t matter at all).
So you are suggesting including all the travel history for the lifetime (even when you have been 2 years old?!?!?!) for Q13?
I see it is extremely unlikely they are asking for it :)

Also, Visitor Visa doesn’t give you Visitor status. Visitor visa in fact doesn’t give you any status.
The status is given once you cross the border upon assessment of acceptance by border officer and most likely placing a stamp in your passport. The visitor status in any country finishes the day you leave the country.
You can travel to many countries without visa. But also given visitor status when you enter the country.

So VISA placed in your passport has nothing in common with visitor status in the country. Do not be confused.

Playing defensive is the best strategy when it comes to immigration matters. Though I understand your point on "visitor status" and "visitor visa", it is better to list "visitor visa" as well whether one really used the visa or not, just to be safe than sorry.

So would you list Visitor Visa and every trip you took to any country in the world during your lifetime under Q13? Really?

The official guide and common sense

Question 13.
Tell us if you have had immigration, permanent resident status and/or citizenship in any other country outside of Canada (e.g. your country of birth)

  • Check either yes or no.
  • If you check yes, complete the chart.
  • Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen).

When I initially answered this question I only included my citizenship status and the work visa status that I have over the year in UAE. But then the IRCC reply to this tweet from confused me .
I ended up listing all visit visa since the time I obtained them including visit/business visa...I also attached an LoE detailing out the issue/validity dates and whether these were on arrival visa or stamped by embassy/consulates.

Yes I saw this Twitt. But Ircc already answered before on Twitter with different information given by webform answer about having more than 1 Express Entry applications so I feel there can be many confusions from different IRCC sources.

I don’t say you are right or wrong just trying find the right answer. It is very confusing.
But I don’t really see them asking about all your 100 trips to Europe let’s say without visa(for people who don’t need one) just for couple days saying that they held Visitor Status by just flashing the passport and crossing the border. Because in fact you age given some status every time you cross any border for any reason.
I see here they are asking about statuses they mentioned in their guide:worker, student, pr, refugee.
I have no idea why they added Visitor in drop down menu.
It is confusing indeed.
Maybe someone can ask directly about it during the Citizenship interview and share it here? It wold be much appreciated

As I lived in UAE, I had on arrival visa's (for over 13+ yrs) for Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, which I listed.
I did not visit any country which allowed visits without a visa.

So what about those countries I don’t need a visa like Europe? You just arrive to the border and they stamp your passport- you have visitor status.
Also, if you need a visa and got one-but never used it - you never had a status because you never got the status at the border.
confusing

These visa status in Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait were similar to what you described. No pre-approved/stamped visa required for UAE residence visa holders. When you arrive in the respective countries they would stamp your passport with entry/exit stamps and visa issued on arrival
