Hi guys, I recently found out I am not eligible for a PGWP and left Canada as a result.

I got accepted into a post graduate diploma at Centennial College in an attempt to try to immigrate to Canada again. I want to know if I have a fair shot at getting a second study permit.

Also, the program is 1.5 years with an optional co oo term. If I’m successful in obtaining a study permit and finish the program, will I get a 1.5 or 2 year work PGWP? I plan on enrolling in the coop. Thanks a lot.

Why weren't you eligible? You applied to a non DLI school?

If your program shows career progression in your home country and you have the funds, it may be possible. Given you have had a study permit before (i Think), officers will know you are trying to get a PGWP this time around so no one can say if you will be refused or accepted. If a two year program then 2 year PGWP.

I was ineligible due to gap in studies. I was enrolled at a DLI. And yes the program at Centennial is unquestionably one that is related to my degree and my resume and experience tie to that as well.

Since you have already completed a Canadian program, this may cause issues because they know you want a PGWP. As long as you can show career progression with another program in your home country, you may be successful.

I got my bachelors in Economics and Political Science and now have been accepted into a post graduate diploma in International Development, which was one of options I was considering anyway but no work experience. Refusal in Jan 2021 and new program start in January 2022.
