Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, a lot of people are getting their travel authorization rejected for unfair reasons. My spouse even has her WP approval, yet she is getting denied. I even went to an MP hoping that they'd be able to help so they contacted immigration and couldn't get it approved. So I got reply today for travel authorization letter that I applied for my husband
He already has visitor visa
I am on pgwp and my pr application is in process
They rejected it saying reason is non discretionary

I already know it and I don't need your advice. I was just stating my circumstances, stop acting rude. Secondly, I reached out to an MP to see if they can find out whether there is an appeal process for this case, I am clearly aware that they cannot influence IRCC's decisions. Two things
A MP cannot circumvent or use undue influence on another governments departments decisions
Secondly , with the number of virus cases rising exponentially on a daily basis across the country , the Government as they should be , are restricting visitors . The IRCC will determine if the visit is discretionary or non discretionary, not the applicant
It’s not a blanket waiver now where anyone who requests a waiver will get one
Well, from what I know, work permit holders are exempt from the travel restrictions and don't need a written authorization to travel to Canada. But, since your wife doesn't have a job, it's kind of risky to be traveling now and I would suggest that you wait until the travel restrictions are eased.I am working in Canada (with a PGWP), my wife has an open work permit (no job) and we have two kids who are Canadian. We want to go for vacation for a month. I called Air Canada and they said that we will be allowed back in Canada. Any advice?
Not segregation. There are entitlements that come with PR and citizenship. Being able to enter Canada is one of those entitlements. You will have the same entitlements to enter your home country. This isn’t right covid has become an excuse for segregation....if a citizen or permanent residence has covid or not its ok they can breeze into the country n quarantine for 14 days but if a foreign worker family needs to travel they can’t no wonder the cases r rising at least we know it’s not us or our family members
Is as good as saying they can have Christmas with their family members but we can’t because PR and Citizenship prevents covid...hummm the world is F***up
I know they have rights n I respect their rights but we all have rights too especially if u worked for it .... our families can quarantine too u know

You likely have the right to enter your country of citizenship. As a FN you actually don't have any rights. In some other countries, like Australia and NZ, all FN have been told to stay at home and only citizens and PRs can enter. Canada has allowed more people to enter but has had more issues with covid.
Great, sounds like you’re well informed. And I was FAR FAR from being rude lolI already know it and I don't need your advice. I was just stating my circumstances, stop acting rude. If you had been apart from your loved ones for a couple of months, you'd understand how hard it is and why most of us are desperate to be reunited with our family. Although we're temporary residents, we need to have the basic right of being reunited with our family.
Hi, I just saw your post here. I'm facing the same situation as your wife did. I have a SOWP and my husband is a temporary resident. My request for written authorization has been denied. I don't know what to do now. Did your wife got the approval later?Hi,
My wife was approved for an open work permit back in March but hasn't been able to come due to the travel restrictions. I have applied for her travel authorization twice, but both times they have refused stating that her travel is considered "non-discritionary". She has also received a job offer from a Canadian employer. On IRCC website, it states that a spouse who wants to travel to live with her family is considered to be essential travel:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/visitors/immediate-family.html#temporary
So why is it that they are refusing her travel authorization request?
I'd appreciate it if anyone can help me figure out what to do.
Hi, I tried three times and they were all rejected, unfortunately. If you have SOWP, I suggest you try and board a plane and you might get through. I wish I had tried this when my wife's SOWP was still valid. Otherwise, if the borders open in September as planned, you'll most probably be able to enter Canada without any issues given that you are fully vaccinated.Hi, I just saw your post here. I am so sorry about your situation. I know how much it is hard to stay separate with your loved ones. I re applied again with a srong explanation and within few hours I got the approval.Hi, I tried three times and they were all rejected, unfortunately.
