For the work history, as an example, let's say I started a job in April 2020 but I become a PR on May 8th 2020 and I still work at the job until today, for the work history section do I write the start date as the actual start date (April 2020) or the date in which I became a PR (May 8th 2020)?

The application says to list all the jobs you had in the past 5 years or when you became a PR if you became a PR less than 5 years ago. It's always a good idea to read the instructions guide to make sure. It's your official reference.

Ah yes, thank you, I know that, so I'm listing that experience since I became a PR just this year. But do I put my start date for the job I have as the date I became PR or the the actual starting date (which is before becoming PR). The instruction guide doesn't explain that.

It doesn't matter when you actually started the job. Start from your 5 years period, or when you became a PR if you became a PR less than 5 years ago, and write what you were doing from that time on. For example, if your 5 years period starts Jun 2016, and you actually started your job X March 2016, start with June 2016 and say you were doing job X. That's what I did.

Omg thank you so much for this response! That what I will do. If you applied for citizenship, did having the start date be the date you got your PR, as opposed to the actual start date (if it was earlier than becoming PR) affect your application in any way?

Citizenship application is different. I believe there you need to consider the whole 5 years eligibility period regardless of when you got your PR. When you get to your citizenship application, and have doubts, post a question in the citizenship forum.

Ah that makes sense! Thank you so much! One more question, if let's say, my 5 year period starts June 16 but my actual job started in May 2016 and in the renewal application I put in May 2016 (instead of date I became PR), do you think it would cause a big complication?

Umm, I am not sure. I would stick with the instructions. They ask for the what you have been doing in the past 5 years prior to when you submit your application. If you go beyond this period in your application you do that at your own risk.

That makes sense, So I should just date my job and address history from the date I became PR and not the actual pre-PR dates right? I became a PR only months ago.

What do mean months ago? Your PR card should be valid for 5 years. Why do you want to renew it after [few] months? When does your card expire?

It's because I'm doing a legal name change so thus changing the name on my card~
Oh, this is new information. I would suggest to wait and see what others would say. I thought this was normal renewal. If you don't get any other responses, I would call IRCC and clarify this, because processing time is long, and you don't want your application to be opened after 4 months and then returned to you.
