I guess 60 families in one ceremony constitutes moderate development (in the right direction). I suppose they will increase it further if they are unable to start in-person oath soon.

Fingers crossed.
I hope they keep online and in person to decrease the backlog. It makes sense to do a lot online at once because there’s unlimited space, unlike in person

You can raise a webform inquiry but you'll likely be greeted with a boilerplate response. Unless you have a valid reason, you can't apply for Urgent Processing (which is the same as "expediting the application"). You can order GCMS notes to see if your application is stuck pending Criminality or Security clearances.
I did order GCMS but nothing is there. Is there anyone from Edmonton who are in the same situation?

Find a page about taking the Oath outside Canada. Not sure whether the restriction applies to common applications. But even if does, it must be a lot of work for IRCC. Still agree with the reasons why can't take oath outside Canada.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/canadian-citizenship/ceremony/oath.html
Its not confirmed yet. That link simply asks applicants to provide an explanation if they are outside Canada with an oath invitation. We'll have to wait until someone uses this option and receives a response from IRCC to see if they are allowing these applicants to take oath outside Canada. We can't be sure until we have some confirmed reports.

Passport Request and submission done July 12 and Test done on July 17.

What are the next steps and how long of a wait do you recon? Thanks
Thanks for the update.

I've updated the spreadsheet.

Not sure about the "how long" part yet, we might receive DM in the near future since our physical presence is currently being assessed. It is likely that Physical Presence, Language and Prohibitions will be set to "Completed" together (which means a decision has been made on the application / application has been approved). Let's wait for a couple of weeks and see if we get DM. If we do get our DMs soon, then oath ceremony might be imminent.

My gcms shows it is in Registry at my local office, and my urgent processing request "document" was assigned to an officer, but there is no indication of what happened to it.

How far behind am I?

I am not sure how the "Location" in the local office changes after writing the test (From "Test Ready" -> ???). I can confirm that once I receive my GCMS notes. It could be that once the test is "Complete", the application is sent back to the registry for further processing by an officer (for instance, for physical presence check).

Not sure about your urgent processing request either => Did you try to raise a webform and ask if your urgent processing request was accepted?

I changed my address last week via the web form and they responded with a confirmation of sorts today

Good day andrew-brit,

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

We have received your enquiry regarding your updated address and have transferred it to the responsible office.

We invite you to consult our Help Centre if you wish to obtain more information on online address updates.

Furthermore, your application to become a Canadian citizen (grant of citizenship) is still in process.

Due to COVID-19, IRCC is experiencing processing delays and we can't give accurate processing times for most types of applications. We're currently prioritizing applications from people who are exempt from travel restrictions.

We understand that this may be a difficult time for you and we are here to assist you by providing you with the information we have available at this time.

We invite you to visit our website to:

  • Check your application status,
    • the Client Support Centre agents cannot give you more information than what is available in the Client Application Status tool,
  • See where we're at with :
    • sending the acknowledgement of reception letters,
      • the date posted on our website is updated weekly,
    • processing during the pandemic,
      • the date posted on our website is updated weekly,
      • it is determined by looking at the applications we recently made a final decision on,
      • we then calculate the average date that we received those applications.
If an application is complex, it may take us longer to process it. It will also take longer to process an application if we need you to submit extra documents.

Rest assured that we are making all the necessary efforts to finalize your application as soon as possible, and that you will be informed when a decision is reached or if additional information is needed.

IRCC is working on giving you the most updated information as the situation evolves, and all our efforts are dedicated to answering your concerns. Our website is updated regularly as more information is made available.

Given these circumstances, we invite you to continue visiting our website regularly to receive up-to-date information as new announcements are made and to obtain information on travel restrictions and changes to our services that may affect you.

We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.

We would also like to suggest the following online services that might be helpful to you with any immigration, refugee and/or citizenship future requests:

Sincerely,

agent name,, agent_id
My background has been completed since start of March. No signs of test invite. Sigh,

I'll do the webform to see if the urgent processing is accepted. Also the MPs office agreed to ask IRCC about my status. So, I hope to get more insight into what is happening.

Hi All, I completed my test on 24th of June and my Langauge Skills, Physical Presence and Prohibitions still show as "In Progress". Any idea what is the average duration between test completion and receipt of invitation for oath ceremony? Are the "In Progress" statuses on my application normal. Thanks a ton for your input, in advance.

Yes, the "In Progress" for the other sections is the norm. Timelines vary greatly and we don't have enough data for September to make a meaningful prediction. I'd say give it 3 months from the date when test is set to "Completed" as a minimum (Might take 3 to 5 months for oath). The next step in your application would be "Decision Made" (this is when Language, Physical Presence and Prohibitions will be set to "Completed").

I don't see you on the spreadsheet.

Could you please provide your information in the following format so that I can add you to the spreadsheet?

Location:
App Type: Single / Family (# of applicants)
Physical Presence Days:
App Sent:
App Delivered:
AOR:
In-Progress:
Test Email:
Test Date:

Also, from the new status dashboard, can you please provide the dates of the following :

Background Check "Completed" date
Citizenship Test "Completed" date

Thank you!
