You will have to inform IRCC. First, to be eligible to receive an eCOPR you have to be in Canada.
If you are not, then you will have to inform IRCC and ask them to send you instructions to submit your passport if you are not from a visa-exempt country. As soon as your receive a eCOPR, all existing visas are cancelled as you become PR effective the date on e-COPR. To enter Canada you will need a PR card / PRTD or a PR visa.
Thank you for your response. I understand now that eCOPR is something that gets processed after I get to Canada. So, let me reframe my question.
Can I request ircc to allow me to process my ppr in a country which is not my normal country of residence.
In my case, if I'm in the US on a tourist visa (not a resident), can I get my PR visa processed at a Canadian embassy or vfs Canada there or would I have to come to India (normally my country of residence) to get it processed.
I have Indian passport so I am not from a visa exempt country.
Also a follow up question regarding eCOPR. How long after reaching Canada does it normally take to receive eCOPR. Also, how long does it typically take to get the PR card.
