Authorization for Exemption to travel but no visa approved yet ??

Hello,

My wife applied to a study permit on September 20 and I applied for the SOWP at the same time. Last week she got her study permit approved and I received a letter with an authorization for exemption to travel but no SOWP approval yet. I´m confused, how come I get an authorization to travel before my visa is approved ? Has anybody experienced something similar ??

Hi, I did. I received the request for my passport on June 22. Almost 5 months after my wife had her study permit approved. I´m currently waiting to get my passport back.

Yes. I even received travel exemption letter a few days before my wife got here study permit approved. I don´t understand why.

Oh.. even My husband applied for his Open Workpermit in November 2020 and we are still waiting for the decision. No updates since then. We called IRCC and they said your application is outside Canada so we don't have any information available. Just got to know that his travel exemption got approved in May but we dont know if anyone is working on his work permit application or not. Do you know any other way to contact Delhi Immigration other than webform?

I had sent an email in March directly to IRCC office where my application was being processed asking about my OWP status and that my wife had had her study permit approved and we needed to travel to Canada due that she is starting her classes in person on September. I thought I was not going to get any answer but now I know for a fact that this email triggered my OWP approval because they replied back about 3 weeks ago and the same day I got the passport request. Thank you for the detailed response. I will bother you for one last question. Where did you applied the OWP? And how you got to know which IRCC office is processing your application? If you applied from India can you share the email address where you sent the email . Thank you

My application was reviewed in Mexico office. I knew because that’s where my wife had to send her passport for the visa.
