Hey, given the fact that you "only" have 412 if the degree is qualified as a mere bachelor's degree, I would advise you to get your wife's law degree reviewed by IQAS instead of WES. As explained by people above, IQAS qualifies LLBs as "professional degrees" in their report. However, it seems that the process takes a long time (up to 6 months or something).

If you don't have enough time, you can still try to fill the Express Entry form as follows: insert "Bachelor" in Level of Education (as shown in WES report) and then "Professional Degree" in Level of Education (Canadian Equivalent). Then, in your cover letter, write a paragraph about the fact that the IRCC guidelines clearly state that Bachelors of Law are professional degrees (with specific references to said guidelines). I will send you a wording that I did for my own letter (even though I eventually opted to keep it as a simple bachelor because I have 2 masters degrees and hence it doesn't change anything for me).

I can't guarantee this is the best course of action, but given that in your situation all points count, you HAVE to get the professional degree points.
Hi please can i get a copy of your letter of explanation via email? Thanks in advance Stellagene@outlook.com

Yes, the only thing I did was to write a letter to explain that "Bachelor of Law" is considered a Professional Degree even though the report shows only 4 years degree.
This was my experience, but if you feel more comfortable you can look for a professional to help you with this.
You're welcome!

Bhai I went with WES. Got an email this morning. They've given me a "First Professional Degree" equivalency for my 3 year LL.B. from CLC (Law Fac.). I don't know how or why they choose to give some people a professional equivalency and others a bachelors. Just luck I guess.
I had written to the IRCC Minister for clarity on the issue. Got the following response:
Dear *&^*&^*&^*&^:
Thank you for your correspondence of December 21, 2020, addressed to the Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, regarding the assessment of foreign credentials for immigration purposes.
I appreciate you sharing the circumstances that prompted you to write. In order to receive points under the Express Entry category, applicants must undergo an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an organization designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to verify that the foreign degree, diploma, certificate or other credential they obtained outside Canada is valid and equal to a completed credential in Canada for the purpose of immigrating to Canada. A list of the organizationsclients can use to obtain an ECA can be found on the IRCC Website.
Please note that Employment and Social Development Canada has overall leadership regarding foreign qualification recognition. Moreover, designated credential assessment agencies, such as International Qualifications Assessment Service and World Education Services, are independent from IRCC. As such, IRCC is unable to intervene in their assessments.
While I understand that this may not be the response you had anticipated, I hope that you will find this information to be helpful.

Sincerely,
F. Macmillan

I had also written to WES. Same fate.

IQAS is pretty much undoable right now because of the daily limit.

So here is my 100% successful SOP for every person who wants to apply to WES:
1. Apply to WES.
2. Go to your choice of religious institution.
3. Pray.
Hi
Sorry this is coming several months later but could you be so kind as to confirm if you had any degree before your LLB? Such as a B.Com or BA. If the WES assessment of professional degree was only based on your 3 yr LLB this would be very encouraging.
Thanks in advance of your reply

There is a hack for passing the daily limit on iqas on YouTube. I followed the hack, applied and submitted in 2days.

Oh wow thanks
So you are going with IQAS then and not WES.
Yes. I previously evaluated my 3 yr uk llb degree with CES and i got evaluation report of bachelor's degree. I used CES at the time due to the iqas daily limit, hadn't come acrosd the hack on youtube. Can i ask whether you submitted any other professional qualification along with your llb to WES?

Oh I haven't submitted to WES yet. I am at the point of deciding which ECA to do but I intend to send my 5yr law degree and my 1 year law school if I do send to WES eventually. Reason I am considering it is because of the longer processing timelines for IQAS which would be made worse by the fact that Nigerian public universities tend to take forever to respond. If I were to add anyother qualification it would be ICSAN but I believe it would only be assessed as 2 or more degrees anyway if at all.

Just to let you know, CES evaluates 5yr nigerian law degree as a professional degree. Mine is 3 yr uk llb thats why i was given bachelor's degree. Ces evaluation time is 4 months.

Hi Stella are you sure 5 years LLB is treated as professional degree by CES? Accordingly, I'll apply for CES for my 5 year law degree from India.

So, good luck to everyone.
Can you please tell me which institution did you for evaluation WES or IQAS?
I have BBA LLB(H) as 5years program and WES made it ad dual degree not professional degree

You should try at IQAS. They will give you Professional ECA.
