Air Canada has canceled flights from India to Vancouver till August 15th it seems like. Many people are getting the cancellation notification ( check Twitter) and I also checked and u can’t book a Air Canada flight to Vancouver till August 15th. This was the same thing that happened last 2 times when they extended the ban. First Air Canada suspends flights then govt announces on 21st

At this time it doesn't surprise me anymore. I'll just sigh and go to bed despite how bad it sounds. But people will find a way to travel, they are still travelling. All depends on one thing - how many people have the visas. And that is now stopped since 2 months here, no new ones are getting stamped. No new decisions are coming as usual except a few cases. So the big brother is already one step ahead of us. Flight bans do not matter anymore.

Flights from Delhi to Toronto restart on the 8th. So I think the government is planning on putting a 15 day ban when the current ban expires

What’s so weird is why is the announcement so early. Air Canada usually announces it around the 10th day of the month

It's just the matter of time when UK and Russia daily cases will be more than India despite the population difference. I think that fake tests scam students/PR pulled last time touched the Canadian government in wrong way. I doubt there is any kind of profit for them to resume the flights: indirect route add extra layer of protection against the covid transmission, so reasons must be really compelling for removing it. But that's all my opinion; anything can happen at this point.

Yes, and they will give decisions so late (its already late now tbh) that no one will have a stamped visa before August 1st week anyway! Even in March, I had some folks whose visa took 3-4 weeks to get stamped so think about now when they suddenly will open long pending ones (those who got approval from April 10- April 20th and their passports were returned!l without stamp) and the ones who will get decisions now.

So yeah, PPR or no PPR, flight ban should be the LEAST of the worries for India folks. Even Pakistan/Bangladesh recovered, IDK why they have specifically put all Indians down lol

Resuming flight in Aug will be too late for students starting in Fall. First, it will create high demand of tickets and flights will be fully booked, for those who have not booked their flight. Second, no one knows if there'll be any new condition or they will keep existing quarantine requirement. To add to pressure of finding accommodation. Hope feds will consider as part of their reopening plan, by letting DLIs operating in capacity.

Agreed. But I have stopped expecting reason and sense from them by now. In a twisted turn of events I find the US being more empathetic... whereas canada is not expected to be (em)Pathetic! Lol

PS- Tickets already shot up from 35k to 120k (3X) already ahaha. Well, there goes my quarantine budget (if am approved, that is!!)

I can understand your situation. I believe there are students who quit their job to start this new journey. I hope something positive is up for Aug, could be before that. Canada has achieved its 77% and 32% first and fully vaccinated respectively so far.

Yes. I am in a worse situation. Pre-program optional classes also are starting. MBA networking has started. Career fair is on the way and I am yet to resign from a fairly high position job with shitloads of responsibility... Waiting waiting waiting..

Many are going via Serbia. No visa for Indians
No direct flights. You need to go via UAE, which isn't open yet. Plus doing the RT-PCR in Serbia is nightmarish. I had to give up and resort to not so legal methods to get the report when I was there.
