that update on their site allowing a buffer after the October update is the only reason why I am not completely freaking out. This definitely feels like a flying ninja kick from out of no where OR looking both ways before crossing the street only to get hit by a falling airplane.o_O
From my reading/poking around tonight, apps are returned within a month or two (ish) …let’s see what my update will be around then.
I doubt they will return your application. They can't be that bad (I hope). The worst is they ask you for additional documents later.

I already have the application form completed, and I have the "old" checklist and Guide. I am going to submit in early July. My plan is to simply submit the form and documents according to the information prevailing at the time I started to complete the application (i.e., on the 23rd). It is not reasonable to expect applicants to keep checking their website to find the latest requirements, when they (applicants) have already started working on their applications.

I am just going to pretend I didn't see the new ones. If they want color photocopies of my passports later, they can ask for them later.

How does this plan sound to you?

Doesn't sound good to me but that's only my opinion. What @GuyanaGirl did was an honest mistake, that's okay and I hope her application doesn't get returned.

Now, on the other hand, you do know that the information has changed and moreover, you aren't going to submit your application for another 5 - 6 days. It absolutely isn't worth NOT submitting documents as per the new requirement. Why risk it when you ABSOLUTELY don't have to?

My opinion would be to send in the documents that you see in the instruction guide after they updated it.

Its your application though and you call the shots. I'm just providing my opinion on how it could be done. The choice, obviously, is yours.

The submission of all passport pages requires translations of the non-English stamps. This will delay my submission. I just want it to be over with.

Also, I can't characterize what @GuyanaGirl did as a mistake in any sense. At best, she and others (and I want to include myself in this category) are caught in between two versions of requirements which IRCC has not made any effort so far to make explicit.

Okay.

One final pointer, if I may, before you finalize your decision. Someone needed the translations urgently and they posted their experience here. Give it a read once and see if that works for you. 7 stamps (3 different languages) translated in 1 Business day for $39 doesn't sound bad at all. As a final note, the delay will be WAY worse (and hurt more knowing you could have easily prevented it) IF your application is returned (which I sincerely hope doesn't happen if you choose not to submit all pages of the passport).

Like I said, you decide what's best for you. If you think your decision is good for you, go for it by all means!

Wish you the best!

Just finished two applications this week! FINALLY.

details App 1
Location: Vancouver
App. Type: Single
Physical Presence Days: 1659
App. Sent: June 25, 2021
App. Delivered: online
AOR: Waiting

App 2
Location: Vancouver
App. Type: Single
Physical Presence Days: 1732
App. Sent: June 22, 2021
App. Delivered: online
AOR: Waiting

Just keying in to all this "invited to apply online" business after the fact. Sounds like its a big, who knows, so was definitely happier submitting that way as there's really no telling what the timelines will be. Did already notice a trip to the USA I forgot. Doh! it's a short couple days and we're both way in excess of the required days, so I'm not sweating it.

The translation itself could very well be done in a day or two. But since I am planning to submit on paper, I will also need the translator to send the hard copies to me, which will cause delays.

If I’m being totally honest - I would think it’s best to just get all the pages together and send it to them with the new checklist. I completely get this is an added bit of annoyance now especially since you need to have pages translated. Once your application is in Nova Scotia wouldn’t you like the peace of mind knowing you did everything they asked for, VS being in a position like me hoping they do the right thing and wondering and praying that they accept the application.

I think whoever didn’t submit their application should provide all the pages of their passport as it will speed up the process of their application. Ircc will require them regardless. I suppose they ask for this to verify our physical presence and opt out interviews as a lot of interviews got canceled recently. I submitted my application before the changes so I expect to provide them those copies in the process.

I plan to do this once I receive an AOR and file number . I’m of the opinion that until the file is in their system and a file # is assigned , sending anything via web form might mean the information will go into a black hole.

Not everybody receives that request. Now that they are asking people to submit all pages of the passport along with their citizenship application, the process of asking it later in the process might also be slowly phased out. This process will likely be entirely phased out and decommissioned after June 2025 - This is because CBSA started recording exits from the country from June 2020. So, for someone applying after June 2025, their eligibility period will be from after June 2020 and CBSA will already have all the information (both entry and exit) that IRCC requires.

That's a good idea. As soon as you receive an AOR, send all the scanned pages of your passport immediately and ask them to be added to your file.

Precisely- by then he will also have a fresh new passport to add to the mix too since the current one is now at the Guyanese consulate pending renewal . I usually believe in being proactive and not reactive, but in this case it might be wise to see what their next move is and then react.
side note: This feels like a poker or chess game all of a sudden:D

I'm in the same boat as you @GuyanaGirl . I downloaded, filled and printed the checklist on the 22nd June morning. I can confirm whatever change happened was after 22nd. I really hope they wouldn't return our application due to this reason.
