Hi everyone,

I don't know if anyone has experience the same but Section 15 (language evidence) is completely blocked out in the pdf version that I have of the application form (cit002e; the October 2020 form). If anyone else noticed this, how did you get around it?

Thanks.
I assume you did not click the right option, otherwise, its not blocked.

Are you using the right version of Adobe?

I noticed this when my form was blank , but once I filled in the other sections before that one, it became live. I believe that the date of birth entered above section 15 can trigger that section to become live. You should at least have the option to select yes or no for 15a. Maybe double check the information you used in previous questions .

Hi all,

I have a few questions regarding the citizenship application and IRCC is not very helpful...

Some background:
I landed as a visitor (EU national) in July 2017, received my work permit the following year and then obtained my PR in Feb 2019. I haven't left Canada since I landed in 2017.

1) Do I need to provide police certificates from Canada?

2) Regarding the language proof, I have a post secondary degree from a university abroad where the instruction language was in English. Do I need to provide transcripts or just a letter from the university stating the instruction language was in English or both? do they require the originals or will a copy suffice?

3) Do I list my previous addresses and jobs from 2016-2017 before my arrival to Canada ?

If this is the wrong thread for these questions please let me know where I should post this instead.

Thank you and good luck everyone :)

I think so. Other fields are highlighted and "fillable" except section 15 (see attached screenshot below)

I downloaded the form directly from IRCC website.
I thought this question is referring to our Citizenship status in countries other than Canada. Did you list your status just as an example to demonstrate that it's not allowing you to add your answer in section 15?

I had the same problem using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. I then downloaded Acrobat Reader DC, and could fill in the language section using that software.

The application form is very buggy. And honestly, we should not have to switch to a different PDF reader to complete the form. It's a joke.

June applicants- did anyone send their applications out this week ? If so , did you see the change on IRC’s website now asking for all pages of passports valid in the eligibility period to be sent , and not just the biological pages?

Step 3 – Gather your documents

Submit the following documents with your application:

colour photocopy of all pages (valid or expired) of your passport(s) or travel document(s) during your (5) year eligibility period, including the biographical page which includes: name, photo, date and place of birth, passport/travel document number, issue date and expiration date.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this doesn't work despite checking several times to make sure everything is correct.

Yes, it is. I only used that to illustrate that I can fill everything else on the form except the language evidence section.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately the problem still persists. Probably, like you said, the form is just incredibly buggy. I used the 2019 version of the application form and everything worked fine but IRCC clearly stipulates that anyone submitting after March should use the CIT-0002E (10-2020) version and it doesn't work for me. I was hoping others noticed it too. I also noticed that unlike previous versions of the form where you can reset the fields, this new form only has the "save" and "validate" option. Very weird I must say.

I guess I'll be compelled to go the online route if all else fails.

Thanks everyone.

It's very sneaky of them. I printed out a copy of the Guide on June 23rd (the PDF printout bears the date), and in that version, only "photocopies of biographical pages of all valid and expired passports" during the eligibility period were required.

Now, the online Guide is requiring COLR photocopies of ALL pages of our passports. It is also highly misleading when the bottom of the page says the last modified date was June 16th.

That "date modified" info is clearly incorrect. As I said, on June 23rd, the version of the Guide did not require color copies of all pages.

At the very least, they should also post a summary of the updates.

thank goodness I’m not the only one who is certain that the document checklist did not have this new requirement listed up to the 23rd! I mailed an application out on June 23rd, before mailing out that day I ensured I had the most up to date document checklist and form. The Instruction Guide says that page was updated June 16th- but many of us would have read that page long before and just didn’t revisit it once we were sure we had understanding of what was required …at least this is what happened in my case. I just downloaded the forms on June 22nd and filled them out then mailed them the very next day.
this is incredibly sneaky and pretty Sh*tty of them IMO. I can only pray that they will do the right thing and accept these applications knowing they didn’t change the document checklist until Thursday or today. #soannoyed

I agree. Generally when there is a significant change like this, they usually provide time. For example, when they updated the application form in October 2020, applicants were given a few months time from October after which the new version of the form was made mandatory.

It is not a good practice to silently sneak in the information on the instruction guide ninja-style without warning or any updates. This is very weird.

that update on their site allowing a buffer after the October update is the only reason why I am not completely freaking out. This definitely feels like a flying ninja kick from out of no where OR looking both ways before crossing the street only to get hit by a falling airplane.o_O
From my reading/poking around tonight, apps are returned within a month or two (ish) …let’s see what my update will be around then.

Hopefully, it won't come to that.

Good luck!

I already have the application form completed, and I have the "old" checklist and Guide. I am going to submit in early July. My plan is to simply submit the form and documents according to the information prevailing at the time I started to complete the application (i.e., on the 23rd). It is not reasonable to expect applicants to keep checking their website to find the latest requirements, when they (applicants) have already started working on their applications.

I am just going to pretend I didn't see the new ones. If they want color photocopies of my passports later, they can ask for them later.

How does this plan sound to you?
