Quick question
For those who have received their COPR and have a family member abroad, what is your experience so far of getting PR for them. Is the spousal/dependent sponsorship still applicable or is there another fast track process?

you will still have to sponsor them.

Who you can include in your application
You can include family members in your application if

  • they’re living in Canada
  • they meet all the medical, criminal, security and financial requirements to become permanent residents of Canada
You can’t include family members living outside Canada in your application. Instead, you must
  • declare your family members living outside Canada in your application now (list them on your forms)
  • apply to sponsor them after you become a permanent resident
To sponsor family members living outside Canada, you must declare them on your permanent residence application. If you don’t declare them, you won’t be able to sponsor them later.

you can include your spouse that is living outside of Canada. I did in my application and him and my children are under my dependent despite he is not here in Canada. Everything I did, he was also asked to do, like police clearance, medical. The only thing I was told not to do for him was not to pay for his PR card here. In my AIP, he was included as my dependent.

Yeah I got that part. Just recent grapevine information that contradicts this info thats why I wanted to hear from a recent PR that is undergoing the process right now.

The claimant. Sometimes the person withdrawing from Refugee is not the claimant
