I am currently residing in Canada with a PR and have an approved I-140 that my company did not cancel when I moved to Canada through an internal transfer. Can I apply for a B-1 visitors visa with an approved I-140 or should I ask my company to withdraw the GC application ? Does anyone have experience with applying for a temporary visitors/business visa with an approved I-140 ?

How soon are you looking for a B-1 Visitors visa? I can wait until the appointments open up. The vaccine rollout may open up additional capacity in the future. While I wait for the appointments to open up, I am trying to find out what process I can start with; I-140 through H1-B is for dual intent while B-1 is not. No, just send the courier as long as the website gives you courier instructions(which means they are ok to accept your application for visa processing via mail)If you have visa interview waiver, do you still have to wait till that time?

If asked, provide details on why you had 140. it should be enough as long as you have strong ties now with the resident country.
You can apply for visitors/business visa. You do NOT need to ask your employer to withdraw your GC application. At the time of US visa interview, the consular officer might ask for your employment status and income proof in Canada. You do not need to withdraw your I-140. I still work for the same employer that sponsored my I-140 (still valid) and was able to get B1/B2 without any issues. Got the interview waiver when scheduling.
Posted passports and required documents on 31 August
Status reads Application received on 09 September
No change yet. Hopefully they issue the visa soon.
