Going back to school after pgwp refusal

Hello guys,
I have recently contacted an immigration consultant and talk to them about my case which was being part time for 2 semesters in my studies, therefore if I submit a pgwp application there is a high chance that it will be refused. I’ve heard about the option of going back to college and finishing a program that is at least 8 months in duration and after that applying for a pgwp.
My question is after completing the 8 months program , will I be eligible for a pgwp of 8 months right ?
To be more clear, I have already completed a 2 year program

Yes - if you complete a new program full time that is 8 months in duration, you will qualify for an 8 month PGWP. The length of your PGWP will be based on the second program you complete (not on your first).

Your PGWP cannot be longer than your duration of study. So if you get a study program for 8 months, the PGWP will not be longer than 8 months.

So I was enrolled full time during Winter 2020 semester, after spending 2 months full time, I was n’t doing good in 4 of my 6 courses, I was failing tem. After speaking with professors, the best option was to withdraw from those courses, as not doing so can result in failing those courses and affecting my gpa. I withdrew from these courses to take another chance and work on them to keep a good gpa. My study permit expired on april 30, 2020. I had no courses to take on that summer. After 5 months, I received my new sp in august 24,2020. When I went to register I’ve found only 2 courses available since the other courses were full. After speaking with the advisor, she suggested to leave the other courses and register for those 2 courses before they become full as well and so I did. i was considered part time for that semester as well. In Winter 2021, this was my last semester, I took 6 courses at that time and managed to pass all the courses that I’ve withdrawn with a grade of 80+.

that makes 4 months of study permit. I suppose your study permit validity was before winter 2020 but enrolled at later stage…winter 2020.

Yes, we said this above.

Yes. As long as you start a brand new program, that program is at a DLI and eligible for a PGWP, and you remain a full time student - then you would qualify for an 8 month PGWP once you are done.

Hello Youssef9949,

In most cases, an 8-months study gives you a 1-year PGWP. IRCC usually recognizes 8 months program as 1-year.

As already advised here, your best bet is to begin a new 8 months program to be considered full-time and to be able to apply for the PGWP without issues.
