I entered Canada from England the other day and as my PR was expiring and I hadn't met my obligations I was hounded by immigration. I then had to speak to a second immigration guy for further questioning but he eventually let me in. I didn't have to fill anything out or sign anything. Would he have told me if I've been reported or will I know if I receive something in the mail in the next few days?
Thanks for any help.
My understanding is that in the vast majority of cases you would've been handed something official at the airport if they intended to start the official report process to eg evaluate and revoke your PR status. BUT: that there are occasionally exceptions. I'd suggest waiting a month or so and then deciding if you wished to call IRCC to ask. (Would welcome comments from others, don't consider myself an expert on this)
Important to note: even if they did not start that process, if they did that level of examination, it is quite likely a note was made in their files that you were admitted despite being out of compliance. You should consider that this lenience may NOT apply on any future border crossings, examinations by IRCC, etc - i.e. you should preferably stay put in Canada until compliant and neither travel nor apply for a new PR card until then.
