Thank you for your response, however I have not formally begin studies (deferred admission) but does have a study permit, hence I am still maintaining my status as a worker since my work permit is still valid.
You cannot have multiple status. You can only have one status at a time. Confirm with IRCC.

It does not matter whether your work permit is valid. If you applied for a study visa, effective from the date you were issued a study permit, your status is that of a student. If you are not studying, then you will have to revert back to your work status if you are eligible.

You cannot have more then one status and keep going back and forth to different status as and when you like.

@legalfalcon

I wanted to know if asking an MP to help would have any adverse effect on the application. Application has passed more than 9 months. Stuck at BG check. I read on this forum about a person in similar situation asking the MP to expedite and received their COPR days later.

Your inputs would be highly helpful.
Thanks!

@legalfalcon Quick question, COPR letter doesn't have Landing Date or Signature. I picked up somewhere that Service Canada is failing to issue new SIN / OHIP with the COPR document that doesn't have a signature.

It just looks like a printed letter with COPR Number , UCI number , Name & Address. Do I have to expect any other document or this is the COPR document ? Also can we apply for new SIN with this document ? Please clarify.
If you are inland, you will be issued a COPR which is dated and signed. IF you re an outland applicant, when when you land in Canada, your cOPR will be stamped and signed upon your entry into Canada.

Look at the remarks section at the bottom, it will be signed and dated, and effective that date you are a PR of Canada.

The MP can only obtain your info and not expedite the process. Also contains an MP has no impact on your application.

Here is my old post on the this:

An MP inquiry is not a right, rather it is a privilege given to the Member of Parliament to obtain your personal information from a federal agency.

Section 8 of the Privacy act states:

Disclosure of personal information

  • 8 (1) Personal information under the control of a government institution shall not, without the consent of the individual to whom it relates, be disclosed by the institution except in accordance with this section.

    Where personal information may be disclosed

    (2) Subject to any other Act of Parliament, personal information under the control of a government institution may be disclosed
    (a) ...
  • (b) ...
  • (c) ...
  • (d) ...
  • (e) ...
  • (f) ...
  • (g) to a member of Parliament for the purpose of assisting the individual to whom the information relates in resolving a problem;

They can obtain your information from any federal agency within 24-48 hours. However, beyond this they cannot do anything.

Thank you. Yes I was not studying so I reverted back to worker status since the work permit is still valid. Do you think I should inform IRCC through LOE so that my work experience wont be deducted from when my study permit was approved? Please advice as my CEC application is only left with two steps, eligibility and security. Medicals, criminality and info sharing have been completed.

The decision to revert is not something you can take on your own accord unilaterally. It is IRCC that grants you a status by issuing you a permit, and effective the day you receive the permit you are in that status. To revert back or change to another status, you have to apply.

Hi @legalfalcon any updates regarding the proccessing of outland pnp EE application. Been submit my application since March 2020
There are no updates. Most applications are on hold. However, some applications are continuing to receive the COPR / PPR. You just have to wait for your turn.

Thank you , I am an inland applicant. I dont see any date and sign at the bottom. it only says Sincerely , Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Date is present only in the first page on the top. Other than that nothing.

Is it like new format? My consultant said that this would the final official document that I am PR. We just need to use to apply for benefits including PR card.

@legalfalcon ,

I have completed the medical test on May 03, 2021. I have the Upfront Medical Report from the immigration panel. I am ready with all other documentation.

Do I need to wait till Immigration Panel submits the medical result to IRCC? OR shall I go ahead and submit the application?

There will be a date effective from when you will be a PR on the COPR.

You have to submit the application along with the upfront sheet you received from the panel physician.

  • The eligibility is currently valid.
  • The criminal background verification is in progress.
  • The security background verification has not been initiated.
Most likely your eligibility is passed or recommended passed.

“valid” here indicates, that the documents required for the specific stage are “legal, not expired, and accepted by IRCC,” and no further input is required by the applicant. See https://bit.ly/3engVK8
