Just received an email stating my husband's status had changed. Low and behold, on April 22nd a decision was made and COPR was granted! HOLY SCHMOKES. What a relief! It all seems rather unbelievable, actually.

Hang in there everyone! :)
Fabulous! Congrats!

June 30 and July 6, 2019 ?
If your application is complex, it may take us longer to process it.

Hi all,

I've received an email asking me to provide relevant documents ahead of PR being issued but I'm slightly confused about the wording within the letter:

Your Permanent Resident document(s) will expire one year after the date of your medical
examinations or earlier if your passport or the passports of your spouse or dependent children
(if applicable) expire on an earlier date.

You must travel to Canada and present your immigration documents at a Canadian Port of
Entry before they expire. The validity of the Permanent Resident documents cannot be
extended. If you fail to enter Canada before this date and still wish to immigrate to Canada,
you must reapply by submitting a new application and paying new processing fees. All such
applications will be assessed according to the immigration laws in force at the time of receipt
of the application. There is no guarantee a future application would be successful.

Our current plan is to move to Canada in Summer 2022 and my medical was completed in Feb 2021. Is the take away from the above that we must move by Feb 2022 or is it that I must simply travel to Canada to present my documents in that time?

Apologies in advance if this is a silly question!

Assuming that when they issue you the COPR it has validity to Feb 2022, you must 'land' - what you're calling 'present documents' - before that final validity date.

Pre-covid would be a simple matter to depart and return 'to move' later, but still nothing technically forbidden about that. (Also note that despite the language, IRCC is providing extensions in some cases now due to covid, but temporary measure).

Note that getting/having a PR card in order to fly back to Canada after this initial landing may make planning a bit difficult on precise dates/present logistical challenges.

@armoured If someone has got DM and then medical completes one year without getting PPR,then does IRCC request another medical?
It is up to ircc. My understanding is that three month extension is relatively common, but longer than that they usually ask. But mileage will vary, don't take any of this as indicator of what will be done in specific case.

Great, thank you for your reply. We assumed that would be the case but wasn't 100% sure. We're hoping to be travelling there later this year anyway so hopefully this will suffice until we (hopefully!) move in Summer '22.

Same situation but March 2, 2020 applicant.
It is unbelievable that you guys have nothing at all. We r May 2020 applicant and things happened, however all stuck at the ndvo they will take a good extra year as I can see . Roughly total of 2 years due to covid for Outlanders. Here is a link
