With the covid situation and new programs in place, things have become more unpredictable. Here's a scenario, if a person who is 27, has 475 points and is eligible only for FSW. Shall he wait for FSW draw till situation normalize, may it even take more than a year or one should apply for student visa and land in Canada asap?

Like someone said, it's a tough situation. FSW draws are being pushed aside and nobody knows when they will resume, if they will resume. The thing with a student visa is you'll need to do a 2 year degree to get a longer work permit and eventually apply as CEC in 3+ years. The problem with a 1 year PG diploma is that you'll get a 1 year work permit, and unless you're lucky enough to find a job immediately after graduation, you won't get enough experience to fulfil the CEC requirements. Not to mention any potential changes they make to PGWP eligibility in the next two years. So the student visa route is a big investment without that much direct reward (but potentially useful).

On the other hand your score is high enough that you;ll eventually get through with FSW if they ever resume the draws. Maybe apply for a student visa and apply to universities for Fall 2022 (admissions for 2021 are closed now). And by the time you get into a university (~ Feb 2022) you'll have a better idea about whether ot not FSW will resume.

They will resume FSW draws only after clear the backlog of 2019 and 2020. So this is it for FSW this year I guess. Wasted so much money and time for IELTS and ECA.

It's all speculation at this point, we don't know how non-economic immigration streams have been doing in 2020. I personally believe that the only reason FSW draws are paused are because of the current job market and restrictions, but I can see the program resuming this summer just like last year.

This new 90k pathway to me seems like a quick way to get early CEC applicants, IRCC will either have to hold FSW draws very soon or drastically reduce the cutoff score for CEC applicants, or come up with more rounds of this new policy. Even if IRCC is desperate to meet its immigration targets I have a hard time seeing them lowering CEC requirements even more.

Lol what. They are not ''early CEC applicants''. It is a new stream altogether and they're waiving the work experience requirement completely. And IRCC doesn't reduce or increase scores, that's just a function of how many eligible candidates are in the pool. IRCC is well ahead of its track to meet (and most likely far exceed) this year's immigration quota.

People shouldn't read too much into the situation, last year they did restart all program draws once the situation improved, there's no reason to believe FSW is getting cancelled when the situation is worse now than it's ever been in terms of new cases.

They are just taking corrective action to offset the loss of FSW intake with getting more people who would just end up being CEC candidates sooner rather than later to make up the shortfall for this year. It's clearly stated these programs are temporary, nothing suggests FSW intake would not restart once the pandemic is under control.

Don't be reactionary, think logically.

If you're a high scoring FSW candidate my advice is to simply wait, see how things progress for the remainder of the year into early next year. I don't think now is the time to look into the study permit route, let things crystalize by early next year.

In any case, you aren't missing much, right now is probably the worse time to land in Canada, the job market is hyper competitive, lots of companies are on hiring freezes, and you can barely do anything with the lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. That's with most of the high expense in tact related to living costs.

90k fulfills the 2022 targets, they're already in canada and their paperwork probably will have been completed before the end of 2022. So we can say FSWs pretty much got no hope in 2022. If there are no FSW draws in the second half of 2021, we can assume 2023 is the only hope FSWs have left.

For the record, I've been very positive about the FSW situation despite the pandemic's effects, you can read my previous posts. And I was really sure that FSW would continue in a few months thanks to the vaccines. So my intention is not to post useless pessimistic speculations that don't help anyone or anything. I really want to end up wrong about my very uneducated guesses about the future of FSW but this 90k stream gave me a whole new vision on what IRCC might be planning.

I get that you're frustrated but making baseless claims doesn't really do much good. It's not about being positive or negative. Like @Islander216 said, don't be reactionary. It is very natural to spout the worst case scenarios under the guise of "I'd love to be wrong but...", but what's the point? There is nothing that hints towards FSW being closed or delayed once travel restrictions are lifted. Focus on what you can actually do about it (increase your points, decide to get canadian work exp and education, if that's the direction you want to go).

If it helps, 90k does not fulfill the annual intake quota. The target is close to 110k this year and next, and in terms of ITAs issued, there is no reason they can't exceed those numbers.

my current score is 474 and we are gonna evaluate my husband's Masters degree(WES) to get 2 additional points and by June my crs would be 476... Do u think till December is there any chance to get ITA? my IELTS expires in Dec retaking this test and getting 7 again in writing is just sth I dont want to think about
