Hi,

Can I sponser family (spouse and children) if I have COPR and yet to receive PR card.
Now a days taking time 3 to 4 months to get PR Card even after receive COPR. My family is already in CANADA with visitor visa.
Can I submit sponser application after I get COPR instead of waiting for PR Card.

Really helpful to me and appreciate your thoughts.

Wait until you officially landed as a Permanent resident of Canada.

You’re already a PR , the COPR confirmed you as one please go ahead and apply to sponsor

Thank you.
It seems it is asking PR number when I fill the sponser application and it is mandatory field.
One of my friend said PR number and COPR number is different. Can we give COPR number in the application? I think COPR is valid for 12 months.

You can check elsewhere but I believe the PR number is usually (always?) the same as the UCI. I'm not certain, however.

And I don't know if the applications you need to fill will ask for other PR card details (issue date, expiry date).

Your UCI number is your PR card NUMBER

Yes, but just to clarify: anyone who has a COPR will have a UCI number - which it seems will be the PR card number when the PR card is issued.

So I guess a COPR-holder could use the UCI number on their sponsorship app while waiting for the PR card to be issued.

That is it, why wait for PR card ? Please go ahead and sponsor your family
