Hello @legalfalcon

Recently, I did a medical test and my blood pressure was 130/90. All my other tests were normal. I asked the doctor if my blood pressure was normal and he said that it's normal. He measured it only once and didn't even request any further tests. Usually my blood pressure is around 120/80 but I was little bit feeling nervous when I visited the clinic.

However, I was reading the "hypertension" manual of IRCC https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/department/partner/pp/pdf/imei_hypertension.pdf

It's mentioned that

High blood pressure is defined as a repeated blood pressure (repeated 3 times) measured in the doctor’s office, of: -
≥140mmHg systolic pressure; or -
≥90 mm Hg diastolic pressure.

My questions are

-1- As per the above statement in red, can I understand that my blood pressure is considered a "hypertension" since my diastolic pressure is 90? The clinic told me that if my blood pressure was 140/90 or more, it is considered as hypertension.
-2- Might IRCC reject my application because of this 130/90 blood pressure?
-3- Can people with hypertension still pass the medical test?
-4- If everything is alright in the medical exam and only there is a relatively high blood pressure (like 130/90), can this causes inadmissibility?
-5- What are the cases that are considered as "excessive demand" cases? Can blood pressure of 130/90 causes an "excessive demand"?

Thanks for your usual help!

A high blood pressure by itself does not lead to medical inadmissibility. To read on medicals and medical inadmissibility see https://bit.ly/3bhRdFm

Also, if any additional testing is required, IRCC will inform you panel physician.

Thanks for this. Very helpful.

Do you know what it means the last update on processing applications?

We’re currently finalizing most applications we received between

May 10 and 16, 2020
In the past 3 months, the majority (80%) of the applications we finalized were received during this period.

My understanding is that in the last 3 months, they were basically processing application from 6 days in May....?
Applications currently being finalized had the AoR between May 10 and 16, 2020

Hello @legalfalcon
Thanks a lot for your help! I am getting so much benefits from your vast experience and thanks for answering my concerns. Just I am a bit worried about that high blood pressure and maybe there is nothing wrong to be worried about. Just one last question...does 130/90 considered as hypertension as per IRCC guidelines?

@legalfalcon...I would like your input in my case.
Jan 2019 AOR.
I received the PR in Nov 2020 and submitted my passport and of my dependents for Copr stamping. We waited three months and after raising multiple webforms were asked to wait for our applications to be finalised.
I retracted the passports (due to renewal of visa, travel plans etc.) and recently i raised a webform informing IRCC that we can settle permanently in Canada and also i have a sibling there. Is there anything i can do?

Any medical ailment has to be diagnosed by a doctor. If your blood pressure if of concern, IRCC will ask for additional tests. The forum is not a place for diagnosis and having hypertension by itself does not make you inadmissible. Read the links shared.

IRCC has mentioned that there is no need to send any ready for travel emails. They will contact applicants themselves.

If you have a sibling, you can apply for a TRV and AL.

Hi @legalfalcon
One quick question I would like to hear your advice on.
I have submitted my application (AOR - Feb 14) and I am 100% sure I uploaded my loe under optional document section. However, after I submitted the application and logged in to check, the file seems to be missing but after several refreshes, the document appears.

After few research, I raised a webform (on Feb 16th)to confirm on the document received or not and I did not upload my loe in the webform (as doc size is greater than 2MB and compressing the file results to an unclear document).

Today, I received a response from IRCC saying the issue is due to technical glitch and in order to confirm, they asked to upload the document.
Currently, I am unable to upload as my file is above 2MB.
Could you please advise what could I do in this situation?

Note: my current application status is Medical passed on Feb 22 and submitted biometric on Mar 4

The is a known glitch where the LoE window disappears, but if it shows up again and you see transmitted, then those documents have been transmitted.

You can send the same documents via webform https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

To be on the safer side and put your mind at ease.

But the file size is more than 2MB and I am unable to compress it further without getting it blurred. What can I do at such cases?
When you send a webform, you can send more than 1 file. So you can split the file in 2 and snd send it.

Just refresh the page 2 - 3 times where you can view the other provided documents and what is missing should show up.

@legalfalcon...i would like to clarify that the COPR was not stamped in our passports. Thats why I sent the webform informing we can travel. In that case, shall i still apply for a TRV and AL?
