Hi guys.
Even though the criminal record checks in Canada is not on my checklist but my friends told me to get one anyway because big chance the IRCC will want me to submit it later in the waiting time.
Does anybody know how to get one in Canada?
My local police department is this one: https://vicpd.ca/
But I only see "Police Information Checks".
According to https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how/canada.html
The name of the document is called "Criminal record check"...
After I browsed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) webpage, I should get a fingerprint taken first? I am quite confused about all the steps.
So in the https://vicpd.ca/, I should click on Services-Police Information Checks-Fingerprint services and book an appointment first?
and then what next?

Could anyone tell me the steps. Thanks!

I got a request on 22nd Feb for RCMP criminal record check, and since the Toronto police service is currently not open to the public, the only way is to apply online. I received a notification a day after that my request has been processed and they mailed out the clearance to my address. Not sure why they did not ask me to do the fingerprint.

You need to give your fingerprints for the RCMP PCC, otherwise you have applied for the wrong one.
Follow the steps here - https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/where-do-get-a-criminal-record-check#a3

Commissionaires is a good one - https://commissionaires.ca/en/great-lakes-gta-london-barrie/service/fingerprinting

Really? I think I went for name-based criminal record check on Toronto Police Service Website. So does it mean it wont be accepted? I was too happy that it was processed so fast.

IRCC run the name based searches on their end as standard. If they request an RCMP one from you, then it specifically needs to be one done via your fingerprints.
