https://www.cicnews.com/2021/01/canada-announces-new-restrictions-for-travellers-0116997.html#gs.s4r63l

This article claims that " A number of people are exempt from these travel restrictions, such as Canadian citizens, permanent residents, certain temporary foreign workers, certain international students, or immediate and extended family members of Canadians, among others."
Please read it in context of paragraph just above it. Mandatory hotel stay and testing is gonna be required for all travellers once it is implemented.

Hi everyone, we are a family of 3 landing on Feb 26th, ( COPR expires March 3rd). We have already booked a place to quarantine for 14 days. Now with the new regulations, it's a bit confusing. Do we still have to take the Govt. approved Hotel until we get the test results or can we just directly go to the place we booked for 14 days quarantine ?

Just make your mind to quarantine at hotel for 3 days (if PCR results on arrival come out negative). As of now, the new restrictions are applicable for all travellers coming to Canada.

Nope someone tested positive will be shifted to govt facilities.
Nope, you are wrong. If you turn out Covid positive during the 3-day stay, no one will let you leave the room, then get on a vehicle and move to another facility. Unless you need medical treatment, you will stay at the hotel for the remaining 12 days and will be tested again. My question remains open: who will pay for those 12 extra days?

I am really curious about what's in the hotels that costing 2000CAD for 3 days. As far i see, hotels near airport are some where around 70-90 CAD per night.

The key is food. They cannot put you in a hotel and say "now get online and order yourself some food". I assume they will take full responsibilities for that. And since the kitchens in all hotels are closed (Covid rules), this becomes very problematic. 3 months ago hotels in Toronto asked $400 per night for a room with full food service. It basically meant hiring a private cook per each guest.

It should not be for COPRs at all. We are coming for permanent settlement not on vacation or coming back from vacation. Leisure travelers have ruined all this.
So if you are coming for permanent settlement the changes of you bringing the virus are zero? I know this is a big complication for newcomers, but everyone crossing the border should be treated in the same way, as everyone can be potentially infected.

Hotels following Quarantine protocols charge a lot. It should be understood.
Not true. They charge normal rates 70-90 CAD per night. Almost every hotel has been accepting quarantine guests for months. They will lock you in for 14 days and every morning deliver breakfast to your door. All other meals are your responsibility. You can call any hotel and ask, they will be happy to accommodate you at their regular rate.

How do I know? My brother quarantined in a Marriot hotel 3 months ago. Paid 80CAD per night, please stop spreading false information here.

I think you were mad about something else when you wrote this

Crackmba never said its zero..

I think you are being unfair in grouping vacationers and COPR holders together..

It is written in Travel Ministry's press release that positive people are gonna be shifted to government provided facilities.

They can make you leave with proper PPE kits to govt quarantine stays so to make your room available for other travellers . Or maybe 2000 CAD is for 14 days stay who knows.

This is what happening now and I have never said anything about partiality in treatment. I just said "leisure traveler" has made it worse for us. If you have read the articles thoroughly and following the government lately. JT is urging people to avoid non-essential travels and that is why he came with this new rule, which is affecting essential travelers who are already in misery since 1 year.

Also, if you read it he only banned flight for sunny destinations that means "snow-birds are making it worse. JT also knows that travel can not be stopped because of virus but one must do only if essential. In this case less people will travel and easy to control the virus. Now he has to do it forcefully because leisure travelers are not listening.

I hope that you are clear about my statement.

Thank you

False information about what?

You are talking about times when new corona variant was not in picture and there was no objection by Federal Govt or new strict lockdown rules inside Canada. Now when new measures will be brought with respect to hotel stay at govt approved hotel then surely there will be some additional charges involved thats obvious as things will be regulated. I said it in that context.

All of this fuss is for new variant of CoVID. It can spread fast even faster than the vaccination program if left unchecked. How do I know? Check out my username.

Except politicians, no one really believes that. Read some news, the vaccine war between countries has just started.
I am following everything regarding vaccine that is why I said "goes smoothly" and "province" means the govt/politicians.

Again I would say read my post carefully before making any statement on it.
