Hi @Triplemog - one observation that might be helpful. Did you visit a local (small) SO branch? If this is the case, I am not surprised. These small local branches are contractors (privately-owned) and they have very limited power. If you are in Toronto, you should contact a Sheppard location, which is a real gov office. Contact them before you go (just to reduce the exposure) and describe your situation. They should be able to help you. This is the phone # to call: 416-326-1234. Even if you are not in Toronto, they should be able to tell you where to go. I personally did not try to get the OHIP card before the COPR, but I heard many people did it and had success.
It was a local branch and they were kinda of surprised at the document i showed them like they haven’t even heard/seen such.. lol i will just wait till i have COpr. can’t begin to give myself unnecessary stress right now because of health card when i have insurance i can easily use incase anything happens

This was a mistake to go to the local branch. I also learned it hard way but for a different reason. Just keep in mind that if the COPR takes a bit too long, you can still try - we heard from many people here that this is a real option.

Hi everyone!

I am an on-and-off lurker on this forum/ thread and I also did an H&C. I just wanted to stop by for a quick hello. At times this process felt so overwhelming and lonely (especially since I knew no one else who went through this), just being able to read through other people's experiences and even getting tips for certain milestones was helpful and comforting. Though, at times reading about how long the process was did cause me a great despair (gotta stay honest)

So as a hello and thank you to the community, for anyone else waiting to hear back, I thought I would share my timeline. Please keep hope! And listen, the H&C takes forever and an eternity-- hobbies, volunteering and other occupations are a must!

Anyways, I got PR at end of November 2020.

Here is the timeline.
APPLICATION SENT - January 2019
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT - My lawyers took care of the application so they didn't mention this to me. But I think it was JAN 2019 as well.
APPROVED IN PRINCIPAL- Mid-September 2020.
STAGE 2 REQUESTS- end September 2020.
SENT IN DOCUMENTATION FOR STAGE 2 Requests - October 2020.
COPR - November 2020.

Reasons for the application were Establishment in Canada and Hardship in Home Country. I was the sole applicant. I did not have any refugee claim prior-- this was my first application for PR.

So yeah. I hope that helps! I don't think too many applicants from 2019 are left (I could be wrong). But I'll just throw this out there for anyone who could use some hope.
I have the exact same timeline as you and I still haven't heard anything. Mine was based on hardship and establishment. got Aip in September 2020 too. sent my application in Jan 2019 and still waiting. Did they send you COPR yet? Congrats to you man!

If the child is Canadian.
If not the payments will be from AIP date.
One of the parents must have a valid status.
