It's 3. Not 5. The IMM008 is for applicants applying for PR through PGP. You list your spouse and any kids of your own in the IMM5768 financial evaluation form to total 5.
Thanks. Sorry I did not look at the form. But the OP asked "what should I put down for question 3, How many family members,, including you, are in this application? " so I guess he read it wrong too.

There was that one chance in 2019 where you could do something to try to increase your odds.
Tried 2019, started refreshing the page 10 min before the opening time, the page kept saying it hadn't started yet, until 7 min after, then the page 'all spots filled' showed up. From my personal experience, it did not seem like a FIFO process. Or FIFO with technical glitch.

Can you pleases share how participants increased their odds in 2019?

i think we are done, for those who haven't got emails. chances decreased from 5% to 1% now
I think you are right I have a question about sponsorships, is this the only way to sponsor someone? I remember a few years ago someone at my work told me he was also sponsoring people (when I mentioned parent lottery). He said he was approved as a sponsor, and he could sponsor x amount of people every year. They were not his family members. But the thing is once he was approved, he didn't have to play a lottery, he would just apply for those people. He did have to provide housing for them, he said they rented a big house and there'd be 5 people in each room and they'd also help them find a job. All people were from Syria,Tunisia, Kenya....so I'm not sure if it's compassionate/refugee sponsorship...anyone has any ideas?

Actually maybe better internet could have helped, also there were people who got friends/hires to refresh the page together and whoever got the page filled the information for them.

Anyways, all hindsights now.

Sounds like refugee sponsorship. I think you are confused with "group of 5" with putting 5 people in a bedroom....

Hi there! Happy 2021!
I’m a 2019 sponsor and I can share how I increased my chance of getting the spot.

First of all, I upgraded my internet to be the faster option, then I connected my computers using Ethernet chord, since WiFi are slower with the usual router. Then I had two computers ready to make sure if there is technical glitch at one computer, the other one would still work. This turned out to be a great decision since I ended up only able to open the page with the back up computer.

I also downloaded the interest to sponsor 2018 form to practice typing up the infomation that they needed on the form. And had all the required documents ready in the most accessible folder.

I ended up submitting the form within 3min and was still able to access the form till the 6th min.

However, I agree that the 2019 method is not fair for people with barriers, as they may not be able to type or comprehend as fast.

Hired immigration lawyers who were good and pre-tested their systems. Contacted IRCC beforehand to make sure their systems would be ready to submit the applications with no glitches etc.

It probably is compassionate/refugee sponsorship.

Private individuals can sponsor refugees that way.

Awesome! You really did your homework! Glad you got the spot!

It was that one year with that one chance where you could actually do something about it rather than just cross fingers and hope for the best.

Hi guys,

I received the invitation yesterday (yay!) and I'm going through the guidelines re forms to include. With respect to the application to sponsor form, does the below mean that both I, my co-signer and one of my parents (I'm sponsoring two but my mom's the principal applicant) must fill in three separate forms? I can see spots for me and my co-signer to sign, but not the principle applicant. Thanks!

"Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking (IMM 1344)
Who must fill out this application form?
This form must be completed by

  • the sponsor
  • the co-signer, if applicable
  • the principal applicant"

Wait for others to confirm because I haven't look at IMM 1344 for PGP 2020.

I think there are other forms for the principal applicant to sign but not this one.

Thank you very much! I feel blessed that I had the recourses and personally I like the 2019 method since there are some aspects that we could control.

I also emphasize with those who are not fond of the 2019 FIFO and gald that at least there’s is now equal chance of getting selected regardless of ones resource.

Wish everyone luck!

12-24 months although some get lucky and are processed earlier. You seem to have been selected on the year you qualified so any time you have to wait You’re still lucky,
My sister-in-law applied for PGP and got her application selected in the draw yesterday. So enquiring on the timeline. Thanks for the response.

How come the CBC news said it would be done over 10 days?
Some senior here mentioned in 2018, it was done in 3-4 days...
Taking into the COVID-19 pandemic, I would think it may take 3-4 days to complete sending the email.
Or, at least until you see the tracking tool available on IRCC website (as per the website, IRCC will post the tool once all invitations are sent)
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/sponsor-parents-grandparents/selected.html

Keep up your hope!
