Hi everyone!

I am an on-and-off lurker on this forum/ thread and I also did an H&C. I just wanted to stop by for a quick hello. At times this process felt so overwhelming and lonely (especially since I knew no one else who went through this), just being able to read through other people's experiences and even getting tips for certain milestones was helpful and comforting. Though, at times reading about how long the process was did cause me a great despair (gotta stay honest)

So as a hello and thank you to the community, for anyone else waiting to hear back, I thought I would share my timeline. Please keep hope! And listen, the H&C takes forever and an eternity-- hobbies, volunteering and other occupations are a must!

Anyways, I got PR at end of November 2020.

Here is the timeline.
APPLICATION SENT - January 2019
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT - My lawyers took care of the application so they didn't mention this to me. But I think it was JAN 2019 as well.
APPROVED IN PRINCIPAL- Mid-September 2020.
STAGE 2 REQUESTS- end September 2020.
SENT IN DOCUMENTATION FOR STAGE 2 Requests - October 2020.
COPR - November 2020.

Reasons for the application were Establishment in Canada and Hardship in Home Country. I was the sole applicant. I did not have any refugee claim prior-- this was my first application for PR.

So yeah. I hope that helps! I don't think too many applicants from 2019 are left (I could be wrong). But I'll just throw this out there for anyone who could use some hope.

I have AIP and I got retroactive payment from the date of Stage 1 Approval.
I'm not sure what was the case you read here.

Can you give me please an idea of what we should put in a TRP/work permit file?
Is it necessary to write an explanatory letter, and mention information, for example, regarding the labor market in the home country or proof of integration in Canada, or add photos, certificates, etc....?
also, do you know other cases that got approval in TRP applications? Or do you have an idea about the application processing time? (I know that in youre case you got the answer after a year and seven months one month before AIP)

Sorry for the delay in replying, since I came from a country which was not my home country so I didn`t provide anything related to labor market. But I did add a letter that my new born needs medical treatment. No photos/No certificates were added to my file. May be that`s why it took so long to get approval

Everyone who applied before or after me got approved with in 8 months to 1 year, it was only me I guess whose application took year and half

Thank you! I am from a country that had a civil wars and political upheaval-- including recent period of slight instability. But the big thing that I highlighted in my application is that because of the civil war, my family had raised us outside of the country. We just grew up in a different country (it wasn't much more stable or as developed as Canada). So living and establishing myself in my home country would be a form of hardship. I came here in 2009 as an adult ^_^.

I volunteered a lot prior to January 2019, but I did some volunteering here and there during the eteeeeernal wait period. I will say that I didn't really handle the waiting very well. The forum was useful because no one else I knew had applied for PR through this means. I did include certificates of volunteering and pictures of me volunteering in the application as proof of establishment in Canada.

I think that your application was very very good if I were in your place, I wouldn't have to stress... congratulations again and good luck in your new life, after 2 years you will became canadian, time will pass quickly don't stress !

Congratulations @AnonyKaty ! I can only add to what you've already said- the waiting period is not easy on an applicant and his entire family, as was in our case. We submitted the application for an elderly family member with an extremely rare and hard situation in August 2018. Our file went in process on July 2020, which 23 months after. Luckily, we got approved at the end, but we are still healing the wounds (mostly mental) from this distressful waiting process. And, yes, people on this forum helped me to live through this very tough period, although almost everyone else except us had a completely different situation. Thank you all for that and good luck to all of you who are still waiting.

Hi @irochka832 congratulations but the h&c case for an elderly person its not rare and special !!!! many h&c applications concern old people for exemple parents/grand parents of permanent resident or canadian citizen... of course they must have some humanitarian circumstances for exemple they dont have many family members in their country of origin or they help their family in canada ( taking care of children for exemple or supporting their relatives in canada) or maybe they can have some hardship in their country ext....
in conclusion, application for an elderly person its not very or extremly rare... many of them receive approvals and unfortunatly a lot of others got refusals....

Thanks for your warm words. My case was not about parent/grandparent, which is why it was even harder. As we said here, we should all be very strong and hopeful.
