Thanks! I need to travel out of Canada soon. Just received my online test invitation. So i am planning on doing the test in Canada, and then doing the Oath in Canada. And then travelling.

Is there anything else that happens after the Oath that will require me to be physically in Canada? I plan on being outside of Canada for about a month.

After the oath, it takes 2 business days for the system to get updated. You can then apply for passport. Passport can be obtained within 1 to 10 business days depending on how soon do you want it. COVID may have made these timelines little longer. Apart from that, I don't think you need to be in Canada.

They wanted everything again...... things I already included in the original application. Only new thing is the health claim summary... which is going to take awhile now since Alberta Health is having a crisis with COVID.

I dont think so. No one received that. I think its interview which they take after passing the test which I did not have when i did online test.

Even in pre covid interviews, they used to check passport stamps and compare it with the physical presence...

You will be cutting your PR card right after the Oath Ceremony in front of the IRCC official. After that, the only way you can come back into Canada will be using the Canadian Passport. For that application, you will need your citizenship certificate. That can take 2-5 weeks (especially now during the holiday season) so I would be careful about that in your place about making travel plans.

No one had the interview yet hence dont know the instructions. But for months we have been hearing that the oath invite has specifically mentioned that we should be inside Canada.
So for test and oath, we need to be inside the country even though they are conducted online. I assume that it would be the same for interview as well. So you should plan to be inside if you are expecting an interview form cic.

Yup, took my oath in the morning! You definitely have to be inside Canada and since you're required to cut your PR card, it will be difficult to enter into Canada without it.

Also not to forget, misrepresentation or lying in the process is the only reason your citizenship can be revoked. That's not worth whatever travelling plans anyone might have. Instead, if you need to travel, you can reply to the test/oath email and tell them that you will not be able to attend at this time and they will invite you for a later slot.

Especially with the oath email, you're finally talking to a real person.

I applied in Sept 2019 (Family)....got fingerprint request in Jan 2020 and submitted it in Jan 2020 but no test invite yet.

Seeing some many Sept 2019 applicants receiving Test Invites already, I thought I should check my application status too.
I called up IRCC some mins back and the agent told me that Criminality and Security checks on application are cleared.

So, some good news (that checks are cleared!) however the agent also said that currently it is difficult to predict how many days would it take for us to see the next step.

I am guessing that next step should be "Test invite", maybe a wishful thinking on my part

And I know IRCC is mostly indeterminate around such timelines but just want to know if there is known trend around how many number of days elapse on an average between "Criminality and Security checks clearance" and "Test invite"?

Any guesses, anyone?

Well, actually you can't be outside since you surrender your PR during your oath (you cut in front of the camera); hence you don't have canadian document to enter the country (you'll need a Canadian passport). Anything different or any alternative is illegal.

My husband got his test invite last week, was asked to take the test 21 days from December 14, he's planning to take the test this wednesday.
But today he got an email asking for additional documents. Find it really weird because to get the test invites, I believe they should've check everything already.
We applied together but I'm still waiting for my test invite.

Nowadays people whoever received test invite are getting the document request after few days. So its the current process.

Wow. That itself takes 30 days to get in Ontario in normal times....not sure how long that would take in COVID times!
