Hi guys, do you think that is possible to get written authorization from IRCC to study for a 3 month course on a valid TRV visa? Are my chances high enough? Or I have to apply for study permit?

Do you have family in Canada (extended)? If not you can't get written authorization to travel for a 3 month course. If the course is over 6 months, you apply for a study permit.

No I don't have family in Canada. But the IRCC site says I can study without a study permit i git was less than 6 months! Also the travel restrictions say only visitors can't visit Canada, I'm traveling to Study. Isn't this non-discretionary purpose?

You need permission to travel since you don't hold a study permit.

This will most likely be classified as discretionary travel given it's only a three month course.

No studying for a a 3 month course during a pandemic isn’t essential. In “normal” times you could come on a
Visitor visa but not now. You will have to wait.

Ok thank you guys, I better go for a study permit then.
You'll want your program of study in Canada to be at least 8 months long full time.

But you're a visitor, you're not on a study permit.
