Can I renew Ontario work support letter with expired current PGWP ?

Hello All,

I reached out to OINP and asked them to provide me a renewed work support letter and they are asking me to submit my current work permit, recent 2 payslips, Application file number.

Now, the problem is my work permit is expired (because I applied for OBWP which got refused because I was supposed to apply for a closed work permit) and I don't know if that will be an issue in order to get a renewed work support letter from Ontario?

To be eligible for OINP, "you must have legal status (a visitor record, study permit, or work permit) at the time you apply and should maintain that status until the time of nomination." Do you have any status right now?

I already have OINP and I have applied for my PR as well. It is in process since Aug 2019 last year.
The issue is my post-graduate work permit expired because I applied for a work permit extension in the wrong category. Now, in order to renew my work permit I have to get renewed Ontario work support letter.

Right but to remain eligible you must have legal status. What is your status right now if your work permit expired. In order to get a work support letter,

“You may request an extension of your nomination certificate if you applied to IRCC but your application for permanent residence was returned due to being incomplete, or you were delayed in gathering supporting documents (for example, police criminal record check) for your application for permanent residence.

Only requests that comply with the above requirements will be granted.”

Was it returned due to the above.

My Open Bridging Work Permit application was refused yesterday because I had to apply for a closed work permit (my Ontario PNP was restricted to an employer). I was on Post Graduate work permit until Oct 2020. My PR is still in process. I want to get work permit extension. For that I need renewed work support letter from Ontario (which is hard to get)

I get it. The quote from the OINP in my post above states the condition to get a work support letter. You don’t meet the condition. You need legal help.
