HI guys,
i have 2 part time jobs, one is 16 hrs/week and another is 10 hrs/week . On CIC website stated that for part time job: working 30 hrs /week for more than one job equivalent 1 full time job but my working hours for 2 jobs is less than 30 hrs and more than 15 hrs. How can i calculate my working hours for CEC? and how can i fill the hours on EE? is it ok if i fill 30 hrs/week for 52 weeks to get 40 points and attach explanation letter for my working hours.
If both jobs are qualifying NOC calculated as follows
You are working 26 hours per week so 1560/26 = 60 weeks will equate to 1 years full time work
You will need a letter from each employer to support your PR application.

Hello everyone,

I have work part time for 2 years and earned 702 hours in total.
2 months after, I hold a full time job and work for 38 hours per week in 15 months.
This year I've work in the same field, full time for 10 months, 38 hours per week as well.

38 x 4 weeks = 152 hours
152 x 12 months = 1,824 hours

There's only 1 week gap between the two of my full time employment. Can it be considered as a 2 years experience if I combined both my full time job experience? If I add up my part time job total of 702 hours, can it be considered at 3 years experience? Thank you so much!

For CEC you can count the 15 months and 10 months (25months) as 2 years full time work as long as the jobs are in NOC 0 A B categories. You can only count a maximum of 30 hours in any week as this is IRCCs definition of full time (30hrs x 52weeks =1560hrs = 1 year full time work). So if your part time work was during the same period as the full time work it will not count, if it was in another period when you did not also have a full time job the hours would count towards additional experience but it is not going to get you to 3 years experience.

I don't know if there are some typos or what, but I cannot understand what you are saying about your work experience.

Try it like this:

Job 1: BEGINDATE - ENDDATE, TOTAL #WEEKS WORKED, hours worked per week
Job 2: "
Job 3: "

Yes, you can combine two different jobs to calculate length of work experience, but if you work 2 jobs at the same time, (e.g. full time job + part-time job), there is no real benefit because you are still just "full time").

Full time work - just count the number of weeks worked; 52 weeks = 1 year, 104 weeks = 2 years.

I had a part time job first where I earned 702 hours in total. So if divide my work hours with 30 to 702 hours = 23.4 total
That means my part time job 702 hours is equivalent to 23.4 weeks (full time). If I add it to the rest of my experience, would it be considered as more than 2 years experience at least?

Yes your full time 15 and 10 months is 2 years on its own. A jes_ON says count weeks for a more accurate total. If you add in the part time you have more arount 2.5 years but you don't get to 3 years.

That would be correct, assuming you never worked more than 30 hours per week ... (when you are adding up hours, you cannot count more than 30 hours per week).

If I add it to the rest of my experience, would it be considered as more than 2 years experience at least?
You've already indicated that you worked 25 months full-time, that is already more than 2 years, so the part-time work doesn't look like it will give you any additional points...

Depends.

If you have 30 or more hours per week, then it is simply full-time, you do not need to count hours, you just need to work 52 weeks.

If you have fewer than 30 hours per week (and are part-time), then you simply add up the hours and divide by 30 - that will give you the number of full-time equivalent weeks.

If you have a combination of full and part-time weeks - you can
(a) count the full-time weeks, calculate the FTE of part-time work, and add together; or
(b) add up all your weeks, divide by 30 - but you cannot count more than 30 hours per week.

Example:

week 1: worked 20 hours - count 20 hours
week 2: worked 35 hours - count 30 hours
week 3: worked 15 hours, count 15 hours
week 4: worked 50 hours, count 30 hours

Worked 120 hours but can count 95 / 30 = 3.12 FTE weeks (always round down, 3 weeks).

You will obviously need records of the hours you worked.

what if some of weekly hours are less than 15??

I'm in similar situation with hours fluctuating on weekly basis, so I have couple questions:

  1. What documents do I need to prepare and submit along with REFERENCE LETTER (Do I have to include payslips?) ?
  2. Do I have to prepare a spreadsheet to calculate total hours and submit ?
  3. In the REFERENCE LETTER, what should employers say about the work hours (Average out, total slump sum, etc.)?
  4. What should I declare in the online Work Experience form - Weekly hours section for each employment?

Thanks

  1. What documents do I need to prepare and submit along with REFERENCE LETTER (Do I have to include payslips?) ?
Since you have fluctuating hours, either time sheets or paystubs for all weeks will be important to include, along with the usual supporting documents(T4, NOA...)
  1. Do I have to prepare a spreadsheet to calculate total hours and submit ?
Hmmm... Do you want to annoy the VO, or make it easy for them? LOL. My advice would be to do the spreadsheet (just don´t make it overly complicated).
  1. In the REFERENCE LETTER, what should employers say about the work hours (Average out, total slump sum, etc.)?
They should say whatever they need to say to adequately describe it. There´s nothing wrong with saying "Mr. X works variable hours as needed, from a minimum of 20 hours to a maximum of 44 hours per week. He works, on average, 32 hours per week..." (of course I just made up the numbers).
  1. What should I declare in the online Work Experience form - Weekly hours section for each employment?
For that part only, you can use an average (mean) number of hours per week. But when you calculate the average, you should not include more than 30 hours per week...

I would like to know if I'm am eligible for CEC. I have 2 part-time job in the same Noc. My average hours with both stores is 31hr/wk, but when COVID started my hours dipped to 24-26/wk for a few weeks. Can my 1560 hrs be extend beyond 52 weeks and are they looking for consecutive wèek?
I would be very grateful if someone who is knowledgeable about this can advise, thanks.

Yes, it can extend beyond 52 weeks. No, they don't have to be consecutive.

Thanks for your reply,
I am assuming I need to show all pay stubs for the period and a job letter( same employer). Is there anything else I should include?

As long as you have worked at least 1560 hours. Those weeks you worked 31 hours you can only count 30 hours.
